Badin Lake, North Carolina >>> Quote: Tuesday, May 3, 2016 The Countdown Is On... We are officially on egg watch! Our first egg arrived on Monday, March 28 -- 35 days ago. That means it's likely that the first egg will hatch within the next few days. |

Landings cam, Skidaway Island, Savannah, Georgia Now that the Great Horned owl babies have left the nest, a pair of ospreys have moved in. Talk about nest recycling! This is a good thing, as the ospreys are doing restorations, which will serve the owls well next year should they return. There's lots of fresh sticks and moss. The male has brought food gifts of fish to his lady love and they have been seen mating in the nest. Unfortunately, whenever I check the cam, they are not there. Although, they do seem serious about nesting here this year. 12:20 pm - Nest with fresh sticks and moss. |

Charlo, Montana. Information from the explore.org site: The cam is on private land. It is unknown if this is a returning pair of birds, and the exact date of the egg-laying is not known (but is approximated to be around the end of the first week of May). This nesting platform is fronted by a large private pond and there are many other water sources in the area, as well. This nesting couple has many fishing opportunities and choices, not to mention the fabulous view of the Mission Mountains! Video showing rather strange behavior. The male brings a fish to the nest but doesn’t want to give it to the female. https://youtu.be/ZhyPQMpAtE8 Author: juanita roper And some pictures: |

Awesome pics! Landings cam. Savannah, Georgia 10:45 am - The ospreys continue to do nestorations to the owl nest. They have added more sticks and moss as seen in this pic. The nest is in a dead pine tree, which appears to be attractive to many birds. Today, I saw a female red bellied wood pecker drilling away at the thick branch on the lower right. She was working on that area for long time...drilling out a home to nest in? |
