Either something/someone is causing disturbance which may cause them to choose another spot...or (and I hate to even say this) we've got either a missing male or a new male that she is having to start courtship with...

OR....none of the above.. :girlcrazy:

I'm throwing in the towel on this year. Like you said MA it could be any number of things going on off-camera. But I think as far as nesting goes, it's either happening somewhere else or not at all.

I'm not throwing in the towel just quite yet...mainly because she is looking so ready to drop an egg, BUT, we've learned from Statler that any major disruption/change can halt that process in a heartbeat. That female had laid her first egg, then major territorial fight in the box, and she's been outta whack ever since and hasn't laid a second egg and its been well over a week.

Monday when Juliet was in the box for such a long time, she seemed relaxed...but, she did a lot of calling!! At one point her vocals changed and I thought she had spotted the male, but I couldn't find him on the cam...then she went back to her scraping..then relaxing in the bowl..

...unfortunately, I have very limited viewing time the rest of this week..but, will at least keep an eye out today...but, something feels off..

OK...all you falcon experts out there...these vocals are so interesting. First of all, I think the audio makes the pitch sound higher than it really is...I heard her before I saw her, so didn't see the arrival.

I wasn't set up to switch to the outside cam, unfortunately...

I never saw the male...but, I kinda got the impression that she flew in, thinking the male was right behind her...but, no proof of that...

I am definitely hearing 2 birds...one on the ledge, to the left of the box, and one possibly below the nest ledge...is there any place below that it could be trapped? Is there a ledge down there? Falcon on the ledge, I'm assuming Juliet, keeps looking right below her..

Yes there's quite a few ledges below the terrace the box is on, all are open-air like the nest ledge.

Hmm I don't see bands on the male, doesn't mean it's Romeo of course (ugh, the peril of unbanded birds! lol).

3:45 I occasionally hear a falcon off-camera (just got back in from doing some errands).

I know..unbanded birds..and gonna have more and more of them as Ohio is no longer banding..

I'm just happy to see a male here. Don't know if its "Romeo"...but, he's never really been shy about going into the box...but, boy has he been scarce the past few days...that's what made me suspicious about something possibly going on...I used to find him in the box...not Juliet..LOL...now its the opposite..

Anyway, until he goes into the box and we can try to compare, we just aren't gonna know...and then we probably won't be certain...sigh..

Empty box, empty ledge. Quiet.

(I've checked this nest box daily - and TODAY I see that it has sound! DUH! Thanks, Sky! :girlcrazy: )

Juliet making lots of noise in the box. outside cam pointed toward the city so no idea if male is near by.

No time for pics or vid...but, I'll save them.
