Snow? You have snow Bev? I'm still praying for rain and cooler daytime temps..

Sadly, Boomer's body was found. I don't remember the specifics or the day, just the feeling of all hope being shattered that he had moved on..

7:32 and somebody just landed on the next ledge..

yup, we have lots of snow. it hit us by surprise and so most of us did not get our fall clean up done. We are to have 2 days of 4-5C next week but too much snow for it to melt. Just hope I can still clean my gutters. .Got lots of leaves raked up but lots more fell. We did mange to get our water features drained and motors out but we still have to cover them. We had too muich rain and cold before snow to get much done. :girlcrazy:

I did nto know they had found Boomer :sorrow: but I am still hopeful for Spark. early yet.

Bev, I didn't realize you had snow! It sounds like our area 10 years ago when we had the "October surprise." What a mess that was.......... Many trees were lost and people were without power for days. My sister and I were without power for about a week. We now have a generator but so far haven't had to use it.

I am holding out hope for Spark too........ geez I hope he is okay!!!!

I had no idea Boomer's body was recovered. How incredibly sad. :tissue: He was such a good mate to SW. I'll never forget how he cared for her when she lost her talon. So devoted. Their lives are so fragile. Sigh.

This new guy does not want to be ID'd. I'm back to work this week and won't be able to monitor the cams during the day. I'm going to miss checking in. "New guy" seems to be putting on quite an aerial display for Ms. Durand in Bev's latest video. We'll see what happens over the next several months. Never a dull moment with peregrines. Have a great week everyone.

just home but had cam up for 5 hours and my recording shows no sign of activity

I am considering this a good sign. as maybe just falcons passing through.

yesterday I felt falcon flying was a new one , just looking. I have seen this before.

Thanks everyone for your coverage today!!

Donna has just posted a new edition of her blog, addressing Sparks absence, but not offering any answers . I tried to bring it over, but was unable to......

Here's a link to Donna's Blog

Bev., I think most of us are hoping Spark is just on vacation...

Only thing exciting I've seen on cam is a helicopter at 12:45~sigh...LOL

Good to hear Donna's point of view. There are so many variables that it would be difficult to form a conclusion...... :leafthumbs:

She's wrong about one thing - battles do occur with males - I think we all remember 19/k and his son as a most recent battle- that was pretty vicious. We've seen enough over the past 2 decades up here as well to confirm that. I think it's because the females battles tend to be in the box and we are witness to the ferocity of them jacked up on hormones that we tend to view the males as being more passive. I still remember that male in the UK battling that female a few years ago and he was just as aggressive as she was.

In reviewing past years over the weekend since Spark arrived, he's not been MIA at this time of year nor over the winter and he's too young to start migrating due to the cold affecting his age - given the record warm temperatures and availability of food there is actually no reason to leave so it is perplexing.

As for the behavior of this new guy - well we've seen stranger here before Spark came on the scene. It's possible Spark had an accident away from home and that's why Durand is out there advertising.

Actually, she said "most" battles were with females, but she did say that Spark could have been in a territorial battle with the male we are seeing...(well, except for today...when I'm home....and can watch..LOL) and lost. :girlsad3:

It is very perplexing as this has not been his pattern in the past. But, then I never understood why Pa left HBG for a short period of time... I'm still holding out hope that Spark will reappear. I think for the past several years, we've all been holding our breaths to see if long time residents can hold their territories. And as for 19/K and his trips to Omaha for the past 2 years, I sure hope he won't do that again. His recent rehab wasn't easy and I don't think he can "afford" to battle with his son again..but, I don't think he cares what I think!!
