I was able to drive up to Canton to check out the happenings for our falcon family. It was a fairly quiet day, actually. When I got there, Matrix, Cheryl and Ray were watching Kaksi hopping in and out of the gutter, which runs along one whole side of the Canton Club building at the floor the nestbox is located. Mystic and Maurice looked beautiful perched at opposite sides of the building, keeping an eye on the future fledglings. Deux is not as active Kaksi at this point. We think she may be a girl, and she also has quite a bit more down left. Kaksi taxied (say that 3 times fast). Down to the corner and looked around. Then he headed for the other corner - and looked up at mom. Hungry? Mystic and M took off almost simultaneously and performed some marvelous acrobatics in the air- it was so beautiful. We wondered if they were showing the babies what it means to fly. Finally they went off on a short hunt, coming back empty. Mystic yelled at Maurice that the kids were hungry and off he went. Five minutes later he was back, with prey. But would he hand it over to Mystic? Of course not! She chased him around the building, and finally he landed on the Canton Club building near the babies. Mystic took the food and fed the kids. This energized Kaksi a bit more and he did some wing flapping and ledge walking, sometimes stopping with his wings out. Just looking... We wondered if he was ready to go. But he didn't. He retired over at the west corner of the building, laying down for a nap. Deux joined him, and it looked like nap time . Mystic and Maurice did some more beautiful soaring, gliding, diving and hovering - made me smile.
