sorry I cannot do more right now.

glad these guys are staying put. still a lot of fluff on them.

love xavier. If there was a perch, he may land on that. but I love the videos of him just gliding by.

He is saying ," Come on mates, lets have at her." :loveshow:

I always see full crops on these juveniles.

:leafthumbs: everyone

Mell, Rubi and Vim

As this is possibly the last day we see our three youngsters together, here is a shot of them at dawn this morning: Mell, Rubi and Vim from left to right

Examples of hungry, feisty behaviour
Published 15 November, 2016 | By Cilla Kinross
A couple of examples of this feisty (and probably hungry) behaviour: first Vim getting his tail severely pulled, very close to the edge. The longer the better chance of a good straight flight. Prey was probably a white pigeon, but couldn’t see the legs. Got a nice shot of Vim standing up for himself and pinching part of the prey from his sister.

I got some nice photos of the trio on the ledge just now (from the outside), with Mum on the tower, rather cross with me. I’ll put them up tomorrow. I’ve also brought in my ladder and placed it under a favourite roost tree (in case of the need for retrieval).

frustration at still not being able to get anything Cilla posts.where you have to link to home page. it say 403 Forbidden. I have never had this problem till recently.

But these guys need to be a bit hungry during the day or they will never leave. But i always maintain , the longer they are there the better. They get stronger and more confident.( But they are aggressive when food and it was nice seeing the male stick up for himself in ARjens several videos.) If you noticed, his sister even let him in in earlier video , in the right corner ,to feed with her, after awhile. He got two nice feeds that I saw and if you look at their crops in last video, they are all full, but not overly so. this is great for fledging. Diamond is a smart mom

hoping for the best here. :7val:

:leafthumbs: I have been following the updates and posts here and am so enjoying the videos about this nest. My goodness...in that last video, it really looked like little brother, Vim was truly airborne for a second or two. Nice recovery!! I think he will fare well once he decides to take flight. I really love how his big sister touched his head with her beak after he recovered his perch...as if to reassure him and check if he was OK. That's just my interpretation. Sibling love....so sweet. It's always nice when there are siblings involved...to learn from each other, play with, and be comforted by each other. I hope everyone here stays safe once they take wing.

It seems that the first one fledged. Between 11:08:15 and 11:08:27, just between 2 recording-sessions, so I don't have the video. But Cilla has.

Reaction from Cilla:

Good news. One of the staff members saw her on the ground near the building and she’s since found her way to a large stump in the centre of the woodland, obviously not injured and is reasonably high off the ground. Photos to follow.

Update.

Rubi has moved several hundred yards, using low flight towards uni entrance and is near the top of a large shrub being dive-bombed by mapgies, magpie-larks and willie-wagtails, so she will need to hone her ducking skills, but is out of reach of cats and foxes!

well, darn, that was an accident and she was the least ready to go. I hope they do a rescue. the females have trouble taking good flights when low. We usually have to rescue them. being dive bombed is not going ot help her. ( DArn)
and I know why I sound like a broken record, but that is why a perch would be nice. She would have landed on the perch, same as for little male earlier

hope all goes well
