I'm watching as well...I was hoping that they would switch to the banding...but, nope..

I have a few pics that I will try and get posted before I have to leave..I probably won't stick around for the return...unless it happens within the next few minutes...

Happy tears here. Finally baby has some room to maneuver and so clean. Wonder if they put in freshener lol.
Male has done great job here. Wish I could get good look at females beak

From Grace at DNR:

"The MT chick was a male and the band is 1947-567891 with dual colored 08/AP black/blu band. The little one was named "Chris". Only fitting that Jeffrey has a son that matches his human name! Allisyn and I have been calling the presumed new female "Pandora", as she has definitely opened up some chaos in her box!

Chris looked really good. No mites, which was surprising considering the box was as gross as it was. Allisyn cleaned up the box really well and even commented that it was the worst box she's ever seen! There were live maggots stuck to the mass of carcasses...definitely Pandora's box. We cleaned it up well and mom left a woodpecker(?) head for Chris an hour later--oh new moms!"

I love the name Pandora for our messy mom! :15heartbeat: Do not understand the name Chris. I must have missed something!

:loveshow: Thank you, Gigi- and thank Grace, too for all this wonderful information about little Chris, a true survivor! I still worry about him a little, but I’m sure Jeffery is keeping an eye on him too. Someone posted on here that they wondered if there is something wrong with Pandora’s beak so she is unable to prepare prey properly. Has anyone there seen that? Thanks again, Gigi- we appreciate you!

Thank you so much, gigi for that info...I just KNEW this female could not be Willow...I think Pandora is the perfect name..

Tsusan, I have seen that concern about the beak..and I've tried to watch and isolate..but no luck...even if there was a bad beak, it doesn't explain leaving prey items in the box...I remember years ago we watched a nest (in the Netherlands? Can't remember) that was so bad, we couldn't see the kids until they got larger. Not surprised about the maggots, either. (I've been checking on the new pair at U. of Alberta..they seem to be using the box as a refrigerator..and not to lay eggs..the maggots are so large, you can see them crawling. they are providing a good feed for the adults..its just plain gross.)

it was me that posted what another viewer noticed . It was on their chat. I have been trying to get a good look at beak

it woul d make sense as all the great feeds were done by male. female coul d not seem to get pieces broken up smaller an d had trouble ripping
