Someone or something was in the box this morning... The little stone I circled has been knocked closer to the nest. It has been moved twice since the middle of the month....

Hopefully our falcons made it through the storm last night ok! We had 45+ winds and LOTS of thunder and lightning!

I have been looking every time I go through downtown (several times a week ) but have not seen anyone at all. I suspect that if the juvies are still in town; that they are only there in the early morning and towards nightfall. Dad is probably taking his teens out to the woods and the beach, maybe Lake Michigan ?

Marineof2 and SWINK, I think they probably did make through our last storm, since that storm was not as dangerous as the July 1st storm. Also the recent storm was in the middle of the night and they were probably all sheltering somewhere for the night.

I'll keep looking.

Hmm maybe I will have to start watching the local pigeons.

Still lots of cleanup and tree removal from the July 1st storm. During the storm I had to take my cat to the basement and keep him in a suitcase on my lap for 35 minutes. He was very good and the next morning when I saw all the trees down so close to my house, I knew that every minute had been worth it.

:egg11: Well, sbwatcher, now I have to chuckle... you kept your cat in a suitcase during the storm.. it must be a very compliant cat.... I have 2 cats who dislike small spaces (they think they are going to the vet) but Im sure you and your kitty have an understanding... Tell him thanks for sharing you when you are checking out the falcons for us...

I was giggling just thinking about your cat, very good kitty for sure. My cat likes small dark places when the storms come threw here. Glad everything is OK with you both.

SB watcher: I had to smile when I read about your cat. I was moving to our new house on Wednesday and only had one carrier for two cats. I only take one cat to the vet at a time. So, we made up a cardboard box to put the calm on in it. Just a half a block for our old house , he went nuts and broke the box apart. He climbed up beside me in the truck and sat on the cup holder between the seats. All the way over to the new house , he just watched the traffic and when he got scared just put his head behind my arm.

Cats don't you just love them more , when they are big babies. :teehee:

LOL! Yeah, for the July 1st storm, we had to catch both cats and get them in carriers to take to the basement with us. One doesn't mind it too much, the other one minds it a LOT lol.

We have a possible injury :(

Local raptor rehabilitator Carol Riewe is asking downtown residents to keep an eye out for the young male falcon from this year’s nest, as it looks like he has a broken foot or leg.

The falcon, identified by the bands on his leg, was spotted on The Tribune’s roof antenna on Friday afternoon. By the way he was dangling his leg, Riewe and bird bander Mike Jones said his leg is probably broken.

If you find the falcon on the ground or on a rooftop, Riewe said to place a box over the bird so it can’t fly away and to call either her at 574-339-7913 or Jones at 574-360-2304.

Don’t move or touch the bird unless it is in danger, such as in a roadway.

OH NO, Darn it...I hope Zeus is still helping out with food, but at this stage of the game, I doubt it. Bless his heart..I hope its not too serious. We've seen them overcome foot/leg injuries before, but for a juvie that isn't the best at hunting, its gonna be tough. I'm pretty impressed that he's perched on such a small spot, though...Let's hope that if its super serious, that he comes to ground soon..and that somebody gets him..

Thanks for letting us know, marineof2
