Sometime around 10:15 amZeus has arrived for duty and he is eagerly scooching around to get all the eggs under him and checking them. What could be more wonderful than his *EGGS* ? :dancingegg:

Between 11:40 and 12:00 G has replaced Zeus.

hi- checked the nest a couple times this afternoon, and now... Looks like a whole lot of sitting is going on... This afternoon, I think I caught Zeus hanging out on the eggs. This evening, I Think its Guinevere ( it looks bigger to me) I was foiled from watching her get up and turn around by a wayward cam that froze when she was in one position, and by the time it came back, momma had already turned.... Hatch time is just around the corner, right? :sum9:

Thanks for the report. I have been gone most of the day so it is good to hear what is going on.
BTW, this cam freezes up on me all the time! :sum6:

Thanks for the pic, there, Matrix! I got on at 1:14, and Zeus was sitting on the eggs, looking very alert and animated, at one point strreetching his neck to look out (probably at his beloved). Then he got up, did a quick, tight turn on the eggs, offering only a glimpse, and sat down again. Looks like nap time now....

Yes, it seems that fellow falcon watchers have also discovered what goes on at South Bend's nest right now -- a whole lot of sitting ! The first egg was laid April 11th, last egg on April 18th, so I am guessing that hatch time is probably a bit more than a week away.

Mother's Day cam report ( Sunday ): Really not much action here, but Tsusan you are right about the timing, G was sitting on the eggs in the morning, doing what a good mother falcon does. Zeus came in to sit for several hours in the afternoon. Then G came in later on. They were quieter than usual , but so was South Bend. Apart from

family get togethers :grwelcom :wave :bonnet: :cheerlead:

and busy restaurants :eat :toast

and flower shops, :flowers not much going on in town.

 Thanks for the pictures, Cheryl! Zeus and Guinevere are very attentive parents - the eggs are almost always being covered by one or the other.... As much as Zeus Loves his eggs, I wonder if Guinevere will let him help feed the babies...

Yes, Cheryl, thanks for the pics and for coming to visit our humble ( and clean !) nest.

Tsusan, I think that if even if Guinevere does not let him feed at first, she will relent and share duties later. He seems to be young and she may want to allow him to observe her for a while first. As we know, raising little falcons is hard work, and is much easier for two beaks than for one, so she may want to share the feeding load, especially when the chicks get bigger.

He has definitely pulled night duty on other nights, whereas I don't think she allowed him to earlier on. Besides, Zeus is one determined ( and devoted ) little bird. He flew and hunted hard to win the talon of South Bend's pre-eminent falcon matriarch, and now he is working hard to make sure that the eggs don't escape when he sits on them. :sprint

So even if she does not let him feed, perhaps he will sneak in with a present for his chicks whilst G is off flying. :flowers

Another quiet day in South Bend, G and Z alternating on the nest. G did a little bit of egg straightening, got to keep those eggs in line. We can't have a future rebel like the Canton nest does ! :hapdance:

All joking aside...When is hatch date (estimated)?
Ok.... back to joking now....
I promise NOT to predict a hatch...

Someone can correct me but I think she laid the last egg on April 18th. I'm thinking next week. If she is in rhythm with the longer cycle the 23rd will be 36 days.

Oh yes. I am 62. Old enough for Social Security, a lifetime Senior National Parks Pass and definitely Jonathan Livingston Seagull! I think I have it around here someplace.... thanks for the memories!

Was just saying that her side markings remind me of Mystic.
I'm thinking hatch watch starts Monday. What is your opinion?
