i asked John if he knew about hatching here.

"Greg checked the box 3-4 days after the eggs should have hatched. There was one healthy chick and two small dead ones. Banding is planned for May 11."

He did not mention the 4th egg so I guess we will know more on the 11th.

I put this info on the nesting calendar.

sorry, I was referring to you r comment about Homeland security and maybe removing you from where you were watching a juvenille few years ago. I have to slow down and remember to put quotes in :egg12:

and I added a comma in right place LOL

"Petersburg, IPL Power plant – 2012, 2014; 3 chicks fledged (1.5/year)
female – unbanded??
male – b/r 5?V?/K? or 5?V?/X?
First egg by 3/7; 2nd by 3/10; 3rd by 3/14; 4th by 3/17. The camera malfunctioned
near the expected time of hatching but Greg Hoffman found a healthy chick and two dead chicks (1-2 days old) on 4/21. Banding planned for 5/11."

Petersburg Banding this morning. John did not give me the band #s, but I have asked for them.
His email.

"The Petersburg plant banding went without incident. One female chick (Maggie) banded. Box stays pretty clean. Saw some cardinal feathers and retrieved a racing pigeon band.
The adults never land nearby while banding so I couldn't see any bands.

I noticed some of the gravel in the box was damp due to a recent thunderstorm. The box faces west.

The next banding will be at the Duke power plant in New Albany on May 18."

Thanks for that info..so, just that one chick...No clue what happened there, I guess..did they try to fix the cam?

Petersburg is in Pike county which is located next to Dubois county from the west.
