Quote: SC - Heartbreak for A-40 & A-48 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUyqLFURGUgBy Janntonne: Less than 2 hours after laying her 2nd egg, A-48 rises, picks at the egg and paces around the nest. She appears to be eating the contents of a broken egg. She settles back down on it, rising again when her mate, A-40 brings fluff to the nest. After she flies away, A-40 goes to the egg and moves the broken egg shell. He appears as heartbroken as we are. He'll get over it far sooner than we will. |

'And the fourth egg is broken at Sauces. Hopefully she'll take a month off and try again in March. There is no way to determine why the eggs are breaking without trapping and examining the female, and we would not do that during the breeding season.' https://www.facebook.com/IWSEagles/?ref ... From Eagleholic: Good and bad news. "At the IWS Channel Islands nests, unfortunately the equipment that powers the Catalina West End nest camera, just disappeared following the storms we had recently in CA. The theory is that it fell from the cliffs in this very remote location. So, this nest will not be online for the rest of the season. They are reporting that the eagle pair are incubating though, which is great news! Also, IWS has been able to bring up the Bald Canyon nest on stream, so that will be fun to watch!" |

Sauces. Still intact. Talons crossed. These were taken about 2 hours ago and I did not click submit This one was just taken. I have seen eagles step gingerly around their eggs, but this pair seems to have taken it to a new level of being careful. |

I saw one egg earlier and heard a lot of chatter from Mom. She must have been announcing #2. |
