Good morning SGB - thank you for the picture of all 4 chicks - what a relief so far. Everyone is on pins and needles - when will the first one go. Donna sent me instructions for emergency rescue - I hope we won't need it. Hopefully they will wait at least until later this afternoon to take off. Unfortunately, I won't be able to be downtown tomorrow morning as family things have popped up - what a complete bummer. I know that Sherri will be watching and plans to head to the statehouse in case there is a fledge. I really wish you could be here - that would be awesome!!

Me too, rosekk!! The majority of fledges from this nest are in the morning..earlier rather than later..though we did have a late afternoon fledge several years ago..(what were they thinking)

Since we seem to have the proverbial "block the ledge cam" chick (or chicks) its really gonna be hard to see when somebody leaves...thank goodness s/he just got up for a stretch, and I could see we still have 4...whew..

There was some serious wing flapping going on by the chick in front of the chick on the platform. I thought oh no here we go because she was right on the rugged edge of going off........ but he/she didn't.........
:15heartbeat:

PS I have had so many trouble with photobucket the last two days that I lost my patience and said enough of you pb LOL. I will try again today but later as I am leaving for a few hours........

I am so happy that you can keep track of the history of this ledge - you are correct - they seem to take off even before 6:00 am - they seem to be early birds with the one exception - how dare he break the rules - lol I really wanted to be there on Saturday morning so I am sorry about that. If they seem like they will be strong fliers that makes me feel better. I do plan to watch this afternoon especially if there is a fledge or two this morning. Without the banding process and not knowing males or females - that helped to judge when they would be going sooner rather than later.; thank you SGB and all the great people watching the ledge - I wish that I could get wi-fi while siting at the statehouse to know when someone is flying off.

9 am~all 4 chicks still there...1 eating on the lower ledge, 1 eating on the upper ledge, and 2 near the ledge cam..all still have fluff in various locations, but there is 1 that is almost fluff free...this could be our first to go...but, you know how they can surprise us!!

If the chick or chicks continue to block the ledge cam, its gonna be really tough to know when one leaves..I hope next year, they will reposition this cam..I know earlier, it was located where it is so that we could read their bands...but, since we don't have bands anymore ( :girlsad3: ) maybe it can be located higher so that we'll have a better view of the ledge..

(2 chicks now on the lower ledge)

:eggthumb: Awesome...stuck that landing. Hope they keep practicing with the box roof. Thank you for the videos. Being at work and not being able to watch the cam is soooooo frustrating.

1st three hatches are 38 days old today and baby is 36 days.

I know how frustrating that can be. Thankfully, I don't have to work today or tomorrow..but, will be of little help the following days..hopefully we'll have some eyes on the cam/ledge...

currently there are 3 trying to squeeze in front of the ledge cam (thanks for blocking, kids) which means I don't have eyes on #4.

I know Donna said in one of her blogs that they plan a complete overhaul of the system for next year. Wouldn't it be great if they put up an HD camera with pan/tilt/zoom? (Hey, a girl can dream!)

I'm dreaming with ya, vlu!!!

10:40~parent arrived with food..1 chick stayed in front of the cam while the other 2 responded...I don't know about number 4...and either one of the kids grabbed the food and left, as I no longer see a parent..and of course, the kids are blocking..

Trying to get errands out of the way now just in case. I won't be able to be downtown this evening but will be on alert ready to go tomorrow while rose is unavailable. :buzzybee:
