You are welcome, Nadia; a bigger thank you goes to Perk who has walked many miles looking for the fledglings from Saturday to today - battling the heat in spite of her health. She really cares about the young ones and their safety. She is the one who actually saw this juvie follow a parent onto the adjacent ledge on Saturday - kudos to Perk - thank you so much Perk!!

I spent a few hours this afternoon trying to track down our fledglings. I believe I figured out where the crane pic was taken....no fledglings hanging around though. :gaaaaah: I so wish that I could be present for one of these photo ops!

I observed some unusual behavior from the adults this afternoon. The adults and eventually the fledglings seem to enjoy flying between Leveque Tower and the roof of the Huntington Tower. Many times they also land on the Huntington sign at the top of the building and the window sills on the north side of the tower. Today i spotted one adult soaring high over the statehouse lawn. Then another falcon...adult I believe...came out of nowhere and started swooping down to the roof of the building just north of the Huntington Tower. The falcon would swoop down and then circle around past the US Bank building and back down over the roof again. I observed five or six "swoops" before the falcon went to perch on the top of Leveque Tower. The high flying adult then landed on top of the Huntington Tower (north side). I did hear begging calls as the adult landed. I feel confident that there is a fledgling on top of the Huntington Tower. After about 10 minutes, the falcon from the top of Leveque Tower joined the party on the Huntington roof. After another 10 minutes or so a pair flew away from the Huntington Tower. One disappeared around the Leveque Tower. The other one flew north. I lost sight of it as it rounded the US Bank building.

I didn't observe any activity on the Rhodes Tower ledges or the 8 Building. Not surprising as hot and sunny as it was- they were probably hiding in the shade away from the edge. I wonder if perhaps there is a fledgling on the roof of the building just north of Huntington where the swooping occurred. The building is much lower than the surrounding towers. Maybe the adult was trying to urge a fledgling to take flight and get somewhere higher.

I will be back downtown later this evening weather permitting and definitely tomorrow. Hopefully between me and Rose and all of the other aficionados we will get eyes on the three that have already flown the coop before the last ledgling takes flight!

Thank you for keeping me posted via text this morning Rose. Your devotion to our falcon family is commendable and very touching. :loveshow:

:ohyes: :loveshow: Wow Perk....you and Rose are the best!! Reading these reports is so helpful. Thank you, thank you, than you!! I really should go down there next year on vacation for fledge watch. It's nice to know that we have at least one juvie confirmed high on the Huntington building. Earlier in the day, Rose noticed a juvie on the adjacent ledge next to the nest ledge. I don't know if it's still there. If it stayed put and there's a juvie on the lower building just north and next door to the Huntington Tower, then maybe we have all three accounted for? Wishful thinking on my part. The swooping by the parent could be hunting attempts or as you say, attempts to get a juvie to move on, much as the aerial display we saw with swooping at the nest ledge before the 2nd fledge occurred. The two birds heading out in tandem may be the parents going to hunt for dinner. I'm certainly speculating a lot here. I wish I could just beam myself over there with my binoculars to see it all, especially once the kids become proficient flyers. That must be so exciting to witness. :15heartbeat:

Thank you for the updates - it's the first thing I look at when getting in from work! Here is an updated blog from Donna.

Don't know why but i can't get the blog copied over to the forum. :egg16: Maybe someone else can try!

:egg16: Hmmm....well....it's not working for me either, but Donna posted a pic of a juvie seen Sunday on a car roof near the Riffe Tower. Maybe that's the same one that ended up on the crane near the Riffe Tower Monday morning? I suppose we won't really know, but one or two of the kids were low at some point.

:eggthumb: Thanks SGB...it's fixed. I'm still at the office, trying to stay out of the 93 degree heat and did a photo enlargement with comparison of the two "kid on the car" pics posted by Donna. Having dual screens really helps. The juvie seen by the Dispatch reporter is not the same juvie seen on the car on Sunday. So, I believe these two pics are of each of the 2 fledglings that took flight on Saturday. I'm still at work, but will post the enlargements later when I get home. Looks like both kids ended up low, but one of them may have made it back to the adjacent ledge Sat evening. That's a long way up if that happened.

Now that I have picked my chin off the floor, I can back track...

Rose and Perk..thank you sooooooooooooooooooooo much for your eye witness reports from today..I am so happy that you both saw some action. So much fun reading what you both saw (I'm jealous)..I cannot thank you enough for taking the time, walking in that heat to look for these babies...I sure wish I lived closer, I'd be there in a heartbeat!! (one of these days I'll make it up there)

Now you have 4 to look for...YIKES!!!

I'll keep the cam up in hopes that something with feathers makes an appearance!!

Yes from me too! Great reporting!

Sad though, the ledge is desolate! :egg15:

Parent on the ledge. I think it's Aries. A lot of white in the cheeks and a slim bird, but not sure.

Parent still there. Now facing outward. I don't think this is Durand. She doesn't usually perch this way. No preening...just watching.

I missed the fledge! Someone tried to burn down a vacant house adjacent to mine this evening so I wasn't able to make it downtown. I totally would have been down there at that time too. :tantrum2: Our babies are doing unusual things this year....evening fledges, hanging out on cars and cranes. I'm going to focus on the intermediate buildings tomorrow, just in case one or more are still low. I feel like the haystack has grown and the needle gets smaller and smaller... :smilehat:

Awwww....bummer Perk. It would have been something to see the fledge in person...to see how the juvie did and where it ended up. Parent just left the ledge. No D-dive. I think it was Aries.
