peer and I were going to go out today but weather is lousy, so we will go-either later tomorrow or Sunday. It is still early enough that we shoudl se e all 3 kids. one cam e in form catwalk last tow nights , so it must have flown on there or had not flown yet.

two are 46 days old and one is 45 day sold.

we are used to seeing them all come back but remember we have a new female this year so that changes things. She was at box last night for quite a while

on july22.
we drove out to genesee. to see if we could see our three kids. And we did. you will just have to imagine from pictures as we cannot get close here. A bigger lens is on our bucket list.

We were there for almost 4 hours.from aorund 4pm till almost 8pm . We saw 2 on the blue contraption and one on yellow contraption.

We have in the past seen one kid on the blue contraption but never on the yellow one. when we got there we had dad in sight on the top of the nest box stack.

later mom flew onto the other stack ,as she could keep an eye on the kids. it was very warm out . We did not see kid fly off yellow perch but saw mom fly out beyond , what we call the feed trough. We know better than to both keep eyes on same thing, but being hot, we made a few errors, watching . So we missed one flying off Blue perch , as just when we decided we should leave, in came 2 falcons flying just beyond feed trough.

I saw prey in one of falcon talons., I thought there would be a dip on feed trough but nope.
One of kids must have taken it , a whole prey item. She or he was flying in with it, and got lower and lower and came to the ground. Then it got up a bit and we did not see if it came down again or got to a lower perch. but here being on ground is O.k. they obviously were O.K. as we saw all 3 in box last night.

when you are looking through binoculars and scopes you get tunnel vision and do not see all things. Our scope was great as we could see the kids well and they looked great.

so I was happy with what we saw.

here are our pictures , not great but they are what they are.,from a great distance. wish you see what we saw through the scope.

tthis picture is area where they were. the circle with number 2 is nest box stack, the number 3 is where young male ended up when he fledged early and number 1 is the stack where mom was and the 2 circled smaller cylinders were where we spotted the 3 kids. This should give an idea of where they flew to, from nest area.

Image

2 kids were on circled blue contraption AND ONE ON yellow one

Image

we first saw one kid

Image

then we saw 2 falcons flying around cylinder area and then we had 3 in view, one on yellow perch and 2 on blue perch

mom was on other stack

next pciutre is area in which kid came down with prey LOL

Good reporting Bev! I love your pictures because I can see their surroundings......

I was thrilled this morning when I saw two of the juvies from UB and one of the parents (I couldn't tell if it was Dixie or Yankee) involved in some impressive aerial displays. It was by chance too which made it all the more thrilling for me.......

I am so glad you were able to see aerial displays. that is the best. :15heartbeat:

I try and give everyone an idea of where they are , here at Genesee. With a new female this year, they are doing different things. .

A very wet day for us all again, and very windy so hope the kids are hunkered down. would be nice to see them in box tonight again
