Two falcons, females I think just had a fight in the nestbox. They both left as I went to breaking news to report it......

FIGHT!
March 25 YIPES!
12.15 pm Breezy ? was peeping up a storm - not kakking
suddenly another falcon entered the box AND ATTACED HER
Then falcon #3 entered and 1 falcon left alone peeping
A falcon really got nailed - but who?

Yes Susan - what the heck?
Could #3 have been Mary Ellen returning?
It was nasty

One came back, perched on top of the nestbox, left, another followed the first falcon to the nestbox. Nestbox falcon is trying to bond... Second one left.....

Shep, was the first falcon, the peeper, banded. I was trying to see, but the cam is not very clear. It did not seem banded... So maybe Breezy attacked the intruding female.

the original female held on . not a bad fight, so if things are settle d, things looked o.k.

I have to go out but watched 3 times now. if who I thought was original female, she came out o.k.
it is migration time. so some are going to look at areas on way through and ponder.

but with such a white screen hard to tell.

I know birds fight - but I've never seen any falcons fight on cam
I know Breezy is banded - she's from our King plant
I paid no attn to who was there today
Breezy has stayed close for days
Has Brook been playin around? :biggrin:

Going through my recording. The intruder was NOT banded (as far as I could tell) and Brooklyn ACTUALLY thought about going into the box while they were fighting...

well must leave, but one thing I do know , is that after a fight, bonding takes place. it is a reconnecting with your mate, or establishing quick bond with victor.

so hop e all remains well. but with falcons on th e move, they will be looking for territories, and most will take the hint. others , not so much

I am thinking I read somewhere that Breezy was hesitant to go in the box. This first girl was in and out of the box, and seemed to be wanting Brooklyn to mate with her but Brooklyn did not come down,,, Then new female jumped in the box and shortly after, Breezy? Shows up. Maybe this will convince Breezy to “get busy” with making babies?

We'll just need to watch. I think everything is OK...from what I could see, not a terribly bad fight, as fights go!! (thank goodness)..

I didn't scroll far enough back in the DVR, but Breezy in the box and intruder approached form our right.

Went into the box. Breezy on the left, intruder the right

Intruder mistake, lowering down..

Breezy jumped on her back

She eventually flipped over, showing her left leg...no band that I could see

Brooklyn actually thinking about going in there.

That's as far as I got...

I went way way back
Falcon banded but cam image too poor to even make out color
GREAT image of naked leg you got!
I was eating watching what was likely Breezy
She started peeping up a storm - I turned sound down
Then #2 came - fight - #3
I just have no idea what happened.

If you can email the cam op - see if she can improve image.

I am the one who said Breezy was really hesitant to go inside box WITH BROOK.
This may have happened to her last year.

Shep...remember that this is Breezy's first year at this box. Who knows if she nested anywhere last year.
