That is very interesting and thanks for letting us know. It is good to know that Acenet has a system to do these checks. If they know there were corrupted files, can they tell you which ones? Were we the only ones on that server to have the problem?

I can probably see if they can give me a list of the corrupted files...I know that when I've experienced the same thing on my own computer after a system check, I never recognized the corrupted files NOR did I even miss them once they were deleted...

...answer to the second question...no, we weren't the only ones with corrupted files. They did say that if we were experiencing any problems they could restore us back to 11/23....of course, we have similar restore points for that day. I guess they would take it that far back to decrease the risk of restoring corrupted files...

I just need to see if I can find out what files were deleted and restore fresh copies....UNLESS, we start noticing MAJOR issues, then we'll need to restore....

BTW...my understanding of corrupted files does not necessarily equate to infected or hacked files...but rather files that are missing "pieces" or have become unreadable for whatever reason and disrupt the function of other files...don't know how or why it happens..

Yes, that's my understanding, too. Computer glitches. So, if there were other clients with this problem on their server, the problem must have originated on Acenet's end.

My thoughts exactly, Susan...so much for upgrading to a newer, better, more powerful server...

I'm doing a random sweep through the forum...and I'm not finding anything amiss...I sent several random pm's...so if you get one...please respond back so we can be sure this function is, well, functioning!!!

I posted a message in the topic for Osprey in Finland. When I wanted to edit it, to add some info to it, it didn't post. I got an error message:

And now I am off to bed, it late (AGAIN ! )  :wave5:

Interesting DEF. I just now edited a previously posted message and it worked okay for me. Hopefully your situation was just a coincidence.

Edit: I was able to post, edit and delete in the Finland Osprey thread.

Very curious....I just love those messages...especially the part that says that if the problem persists, to contact the Board Administrator...like I would know what to do!!!

:laughingsanta:

I will try to edit that post again, see what happens now. :santatoast:

EDIT: I had no problems editing the message in the Osprey topic. So it was just a minor glitch :wavingsnowgirl:

Edit2, this message posed no problem either ;) Now I have to reboot my computer, the keyboard is all messed up . . . :sigh

Thanks for letting us know, DEF. At this point anything weird going on will make us worry that it has to do with those deleted files! :?

Attention BCAW Members!!

We will be trying out and using a new format for the Eagles. Please take a few moments to "explore" the new Subforum set-up as beginning January 1 :ny14: , we will start using it. Hopefully, it will be user friendly and provide the needed coverage our eagles deserve. If it doesn't work---we'll switch back!!

Just a reminder to everyone as we enter the 2010 nesting season (yes, can ya believe its coming upon us fast...), if you ever need a cam link, please remember you can check the respective CAM LINK forum under each major category...I'm sure we've missed some, so if we've left your favorite off, or you discover a new cam, feel free to pm me or that forum's moderator...and it will be added/corrected/deleted pronto...

Thanks!!!
