I think we are being forewarned...

Lily isn't feeling well. I know there are still mixed feelings about Jason. I just hope Lily gets better and all goes well for Lily and her family.

From April 29 We then checked on Lily and family. When we saw her on the 26th and 27th, she wasn’t interested in eating and was strangely lethargic. We worried. Her GPS readings showed she wasn’t moving much so we decided to do a longer observation of the family today. We wondered if Hope was still nursing. Of course, Faith is always a question. She is small compared to Jo’s cub.

We spent 5-1/2 hours with Lily and we’re still worried. Lily continues to seem lethargic and disinterested in food. This is not like Lily, and she has very uncharacteristic foul-smelling, watery diarrhea. Bear scat usually smells good enough that most people don’t mind handling it with their bare hands. Hope is starved for play but Lily is having none of it. This was not at all like our visit on April 20th when there was so much play, or our visit on April 22nd when they were actively foraging on snowfleas. Lily lay around while Hope foraged on new 1-inch grass blades, tiny shoots of bedstraw, grubs in logs, aspen buds high in the tree tops, and sweet sap running down the maple tree trunks. Faith eagerly licked the maple sap and nibbled the grass shoots too.

From April 30 Np better, no worse

In our check of Lily today, she was about the same. She had no interest in food, wanted to be left alone, and moved away when we tried to approach. When we first saw them, Hope was up a tree being her energetic self. Lily and Faith were lying at the base of a red pine that June, Lily, and Hope have used in years past. Although Lily moved off as we approached today, a call from Faith brought Lily back to her. Lily then moved away again with Faith toddling after, which is when we left.

Wow the first thing that entered my mind was when the neighbors dog got a couple deer ticks he acted the same way I sure hope she is alright cuz I'm worried about Faith if they didn't do anything for sweet Jason then I wonder what they would do for her. We more or less know Hope can take care of herself but the baby will perish if god forbid something happens to Lily

Agreed Kitten. I've just about had it with Bears, Peregrines and Eagles this year...

Love when everything goes perfectly when watching a cam. Hate it when it doesn't.

Will I don't know what the Heck I did, but apparently I'm banned I assume from their FB. No way to comment. I all the hours of videos I put in & pics are gone too. I wonder if the stupid admin didn't like my comment about MAYBE not watching next year.I was wondering why I hadn't been getting updates on my home page

Pat, I think that might be a FB issue.

I've had that happen to friends. For some reason it blocks you, or drops you, then eventually, it's ok.

Dear Pat,
You have been restricted from posting. You came on to the support site for Dr. Rogers and Sue's research and blasted them for in essence causing Jason's death. We are all guests on this page and posts such as the caption on your "tribute" definitely show that you needed to be restricted.

That's incredible. And wrong. Just plain wrong.

I didn't read your post from Facebook. I could understand if you were using foul language, were threatening, harrassing, etc. Just because you disagree and have your opinions/feelings doesn't mean you should be restricted.

Wonder who the admin are. Obviously, Dr. Rogers and Sue realized there was a variety of people who had different feelings over Jason's death, or they would not have commented on it in one of their updates a day or two after Jason passed. Incredible that someone would make that decision when everyone was experiencing different emotions.

I don't like this mentality at all.... At all.

They posted on updates last night that Lily is doing well, seems to be recovering from whatever was bothering her. They said she had energy to play and acting normal with the researchers once again. Good news. Good news for Faith too, although they say Faith is still much smaller than Jo and Juliet's cubs. But little Faith is reminding me of Hope. She doesnt miss a trick, and seems to keep a good eye on mom and Hope and stays close. How can you not fall in love with these cuties? They have all stolen my heart to the point I am emotionally moved by them. Wish the entire world could see their videos and learn about these black bears and come to know them as we have. :girlluv:

Oh, they said they tried the day before to collar Hope. No such luck, she saw every move coming. They said they will keep trying. Hope is a stinker, but maybe they will succeed before the fall. We need her collared before the fall in case Lily gives her the boot. Will be awaiting news of further attempts. :popc:

What nerve! When I posted update info yesterday re Lily, for some reason the previous posts did not show up, so sorry if my comments are repetitive. Dont know what happened. Eiguoc, I am sorry they did that to you, I am just seeing those comments today for some reason. I dont have a facebook account, but sometimes I go to the bear link there to see their page. Everytime, no matter what they do, I only see posts saying how wonderful they are, etc. The facebook fans I think, were not bear followers before, but became facebook Lily fans there. So I dont think most have followed and are familiar with the same people who for instance, read these forums and have most of the facts. So I have stayed away from the fb site because I am sure LOL they dont want me posting. I agree with mwplay, they seem to be drinking the kool aid on that site. So sorry, I know it can be upsetting when they do that. Think about leaving your videos though because there are so many people who love bears who cannot make videos, etc that are grateful and thankful for the beautiful videos you post, and it helps educate people. ((hugs))

May 3 A solid stool
The veterinarian was right. When Lily had diarrhea yesterday, he said that was to be expected and she should continue to get better. Today, Lily produced a solid stool. She’ll be fine. Faith and Hope had a long peaceful nursing session today but seemed to get very little milk. The veterinarian said Lily could probably resume lactation easier after being sick with continued suckling that she could after several days of no suckling. Between Faith and Hope, we hope this setback in lactation can be reversed with suckling from both. Faith is small but still vigorous. She can run, climb, play, and nurse—all good signs—and she is beginning to find and eat solid foods.

We’re hoping spring green-up comes soon. Yesterday we had a little snow and below freezing temperatures. Today started out below freezing but warmed to 55 degrees. Next week is supposed to have highs of 58-62 and lows of 31-47, which hopefully will mean vegetation springing up in the uplands. The lowlands are still frozen with patches of snow.

"Pat, yes you did make a comment when emotions were running high and restricted for that night but you show in the fan base. We have been having problems with facebook and people are complaining they are blocked and yet we show them in the fan database. Please try unliking the page and reliking it and see if that helps. admin.
I've been unliking & reliking since all this started. Well today I can see comments. Well, Whooptidoo, but all my videos & pics have been deleated anyway. Dieing to see her answer to the fact that they were deleated
Ha!. they are blaming FB for deleting my stuff. And I fell off the turnip truck
Well anyway, I'm glad to see that Lily is her usuall perky self.

I watched a very interesting show today on PBS's Nature. Part 1 of "bears of the Last Frontier: City of Bears" this was in Alaska.There's 2 more parts to this show. It was really worth watching.
