Thanks Alison! Wonder how our one footed wonder is doing. I haven't seen him lately when I have checked in.

This is a video that Laura captured a few days ago and I just now figured out how to upload it to YouTube and then here. Guinevere wants her spot back and Zephyr reluctantly goes.
Zephyr has lost a leg ?

Yes, sad but true PeSS. Laura first reported this in her blog on April 10
"And very sad news to report in South Bend. The resident pair has been sighted at the nest box, but apparently the male is missing one foot. You can read more on this story at http://www.southbendtribune.com/sbt-20110409sbtmichb-01-06-20110409,0,2877548.story I don’t know any more than what the paper reports…if I hear more info, I will let you know."
That story has since been removed from the South Bend Tribune's website, but it is suspected that his leg was caught in some kind of trap. There is concern that he will be able to hunt enough prey to feed 4 chicks. We will just have to see what happens.

Someone asked where this nest was located and I finally found out the answer!
Since 2007 Guinevere and Zephyr have nested in downtown South Bend in a box on top of the 14-story County-City Building at 227 West Jefferson Blvd. The nesting box was on Tower Building for four years before that.

Hi all, this is my first post here. I've been watching G and Z for a few weeks now. So sad for Zephyr. I'm a little concerned for them, as I'm sure you all are. I did see him today but he didn't take over for G. Has anyone seen her off the nest lately or better yet....eat? She was already to go when he showed up but he never came into the scrape. I have a pic but not sure how to upload it here. I'll keep watching.

:grwelcom Donna,
I have not seen Zephyr today and I think most everyone is with you in their concern for him and the outcome of this clutch. We will just have to wait and see how he does.

We are all have talons crossed hoping for the best!

Hi Donna...and welcome to BCAW!!!! yes, its a little confusing and overwhelming over here at first...so please let us know if you have questions or get lost...

I am pretty sure I saw Zephyr on the eggs yesterday....I should have taken a pic, but didn't.

Donna, let me refer you to our Picture Topic...

viewtopic.php?f=82&t=56

...it actually seems more confusing than it really is. We don't have direct upload to the forum, so if you want to post pics (and I hope you will), you'll need to use something like Photobucket...all pics you see here link back to a web site such as PB...

Now the heat's getting to Guinever...but, I don't think she's as hot as Lady...

I'll keep the recorder on the cam in hopes of catching Zephyr...

Caught this the other day. This was when Zephyr flew in but didn't come into the scrape.

This was just a few minutes ago.

OK, photos aren't that hard here. Thank you SGB!

From earlier today, Zephyr

I would say around the 19th....Donna, we have nesting calendars here to help us keep track of all these nests..

viewforum.php?f=202

Great job posting your first pics!!! Glad you didn't find it too hard...

G is still on the eggs and has been since I started recording (about 45 min). I think we've learned from watching Durand, that if G get's hungry or needs to take a break, she'll get up and go...No chance of eggs cooling off in this heat...

Our eggs in Rochester due to hatch around the same time. How fun, I hope. Our Archer is servicing two women right now. Beauty in Rochester and Unity at Kodak Park. He's back and forth all day between the 2. He's such a little guy too. Men!!! :sunmad: :lol2:
