Banding was cancelled for today since all chicks were out on the ledge. Craig is hoping he'll be able to re-arrange his schedule and do it tomorrow morning around 5:30 or 6:00. If not it probably won't happen. Better safe than sorry!!!

Kim - Thanks for the report. I hope the kids will all be in the nest early tomorrow morning just like they were this morning and that banding can occur then.

Wow that's a great pic of them all out on the ledge! I knew they went in from a back door and can't get them out on that ledge. But like Harrisburg (I'm spoiled) thought maybe they'd be zooming just to check the ledge out and let everyone else who's watching see where they are. Hope they do change the angle sometime!
Glad they postponed it! Certainly not everyone would stay put on the ledge if suddenly a human came out after them! :suncon:

Very happy to hear that, would hated to have since a chick panic and take a tumble out.

Whew!!!....and thank goodness...here's a silly question, am or pm?

edit: never mind...I just saw the word "morning"...

Going to Dentist then down to the roof top. Seeing that they are still out there! Be back later. Try to get pictures with my" no big lens" camera.

I stopped downtown in Harrisburg around 12:30 to sign up for some falcon watch times next week. Reenie told me that the banding was off for today. No birds in sight when I checked in a moment ago.

A bad video from the back of the nestbox today but you can see that there are five chicks on the ledge. I like the two beaking each other.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that we're going to try and zoom out the camera if we're able to get inside the box tomorrow!

Wonderful pictures Kim. A lot better than what I have from down on the roof top, but I did see their dear little heads and some real good wing stretches. I sent 3 pictures to Reenie. Maybe she will post them. I was there for an hour. They look around a lot. Nice air going, but still hot in the sun. Two ladies came by looking and said they follow the Cam. Wondered why no one was in the nest. Straightened them out on a few points and they wanted to know the History of the Parents. Told them about HBG and RC Bldg. Also what they eat. Many people think they eat mice and other rodents. Nice to see people interested in them. Told them to watch HBG Cam also.
Maybe I'll be there if Sue comes by on Friday.
Sure hope they get them banded tomorrow. But glad they are SUPER careful! It's a long way down!

You're missing a great show if you aren't seeing the chick in the box now! He's cracking me up! Will post video later!

Make sure you watch toward the end of the video!!!

And here's another one of one of them jumping into the box. You can see a lot of flapping on the ledge before he jumps in. You might want to fast forward to 1 min!

Great video's Kim. I could see wing stretches from the roof, and flapping. That is a pretty nice ledge they have there. More room than I thought at first. Good luck tomorrow. Meant to say the carpet is nice and gives them something to grasp onto.

Great news that the banding was delayed, Kim! I was looking at the cam periodically & also reading the forum periodically, but didn't want to take time to post since I was at work. I was really nervous that somebody might jump if Craig tried to take them from the ledge, but Craig is concerned for their welfare, too, so I'm sure he'll only band them when he feels they will be safe. :thumbegg:

Loved your videos and also the picture--thanks for sharing them! Was that a juvie who went running to the front of the ledge at the end of the video? :sunblink: At first I thought it was an adult, then I realized that he/she had been there all along. Also loved the beaking!

Nice to hear that you will try to zoom the camera tomorrow!

That was actually Red Girl that went running to the edge at the end and being the idiot that I am, I stopped recording right before she flew off! We got to watch her feeding the kids up close which was really cool!!!

I'M GLAD TO SEE THAT LITTLE LIP ON THAT LEDGE IN BILL'S PICTURE! DIDN'T KNOW THAT WAS THERE AND I LIKE THE GREEN CARPET TOO! THEY SEEM REALLY SAFE THERE :-) HERE ARE FAITH'S PICS. HOPE SHE DOESN'T MIND THAT I CUT THEM DOWN SOME SO I COULD MAKE THE PICTURE BIGGER EXCEPT FOR THE FIRST ONE, IF THAT MAKES SENSE :-)

Thanks for the great videos, Kim! (I loved seeing all the fluff fly around as the chick was flapping in the nest box!) And thanks for posting Bill's picture of the chicks on the ledge.

Little "yellow foot" was in the box a few minutes ago when I took these screen captures. After that, I believe he left and now it's one of the white-footed chicks in the nest box.

I just hope that all the chicks return before bedtime and, more important, stay put in the box for an early banding tomorrow morning.
