I just watched the last meal. I saw 2 chicks well fed and I think I saw the third behind but he remained completely motionless during the whole meal ...

I am so sad. Sometimes the way of nature is hard to deal with.

I know.. :cryinggirl: I went back and looked at Alison's pics from last night. I could only see 2 actively feeding in her pics...Only in one of her pics did it look like there were 3 chicks...I just don't know...maybe Laura will hear something..

Yes and yet these parents seem attentive and supportive.

...and I think we need some comic relief. I don't know if Guinevere was trying to intimidate Zephyr into leaving or if she was flirting..

I am so sad to think that we may have lost one of the little chicks. As I mentioned last night, I watched the whole feeding but did not have a clear view of the chicks. Guinevere and Zephyr are great parents - and very experienced.

So many nests this year have had eggs which did not hatch, or have lost chicks very young. It has been a very difficult year.

Tonight I could only see Guinevere brooding the chicks; earlier I could not access the webcam.

It keeps going off line for me. Looks like refresh is now 20-25 seconds.

Very sadly, SGB is right; there are just two chicks.

Guinevere left to get food:

She came back, and the chicks were well fed:

I had a feeling the other day when I posted that little guy was not getting any food. This is very sad. Sorry all!
We lost our 3rd egg this am in Rochester. When Beauty got up, it was stuck to her chest and fell out on to the deck. She left and Archer came in and looked for the egg in nest. He sat right down to incubate. After a few minutes, he noticed the egg out of the nest and went out, took it and disposed of it. Watcher MAK went downtown and found the egg right under the nest site. This is devastating to us but Nature works in a strange way sometimes. Archer and Beauty were caught mating the other day, so who knows what will happen now. MAK just texted, the egg is empty.

Maybe a second clutch in Rochester? We will have to wait and see. Been a hard year all over.

In one of the pics above it looks like mom is feeding the dead eyas to the other 2. I blew it up and it looks like the eyas head. I wanted to faint. I've seen it happen in the NL's nest site. Kaver, one year removed a dead eyas from the nest. He took it right out. We watch and learn.

BTW, A & B mated this am...again! Ya never know. So sorry you all for the loss of the little guy.
