Could see two chicks in the box when tuning in a bit ago. Couldn't see bands. While watching two of them hopped out of the box. I'm sure Craig is very busy at this time of year. Loved the video with CJ in the box. Those two chicks were following him all over the place. He looked so small compared to that one chick, but all that white fluff does make them look bigger.

A parent was in the scrape checking on two of the eyases then departed at 0927. The one below on the far side of the nest box departed i think leaving the lighter feathered on still in the box at 0920

Image

EDITED as soon as i posted this capture i think the last one left for the ledge

Yellow Foot is in the nest box right now.

Earlier, CJ was feeding two chicks there.

It must be close to bed time - first two, then three chicks returned to the nest. (And I think I see the feet of another up on the ledge.)

I hope they all got back in, although it is still 80 degrees out there.

Heard from Jane , and read Reenie's reporting. Terrible storm with VERY high winds hit HBG. Jane doesn't have electric. Trees down Reenie said and HBG and Steelton without power. They were on the streets on Falcon Watch for LO who may fledge any time now. They ran for cover in the RC Bldg.

We heard on the 6:00 news that HBG and Lancaster Co. were under a Tornado Watch.

Sad news about Richmond Falcon. See HBG Forum under Catwoman. Part III page 19. Or go to Richmond Forum.
Very delicate system Nature is. And VERY painful, along with great joy!

I sure hope LO made out okay through the storm! That sounds pretty nasty. I don't think I want to hear any bad news about falcons so I'm going to skip reading about Richmond. :(

You're all in for a surprise in the morning!!! And we were way off! Three males, one female and one unknown! And I think the unknown is Yellow Foot.

I will post a picture of four of them tomorrow!!!

They sat like this for at least 20 minutes and were still sitting like this after we opened the partition and we were on our way out. They're so funny!!! And so beautiful!

:loveshow: Wow! Surprise is right . . . It must have been a late night banding! I'm so glad everyone went the extra mile to get the chicks banded.

Those chicks are so adorable, all lined up in a row and posing for a group picture. Was the fifth chick MIA or was he/she just out of picture-taking range at the time?

P.S. I just watched a parent feeding one of the chicks in the nest box.

This is a very pleasant surprise! I'm so glad the chicks got banded safely! Thanks to Kim, Craig & anyone else involved for doing a late night banding for these babies. Kim, thanks for the picture of the precious sweeties--they are just adorable! You mentioned a partition. Is there a partition that comes down over the ledge keeping the chicks from running up on the ledge (& also keeps the parents from attacking the bander)?

P.S. I also guessed 4 girls & 1 boy, but my guess was based upon size & feather development.
