Kim - Thanks so much for the videos and for posting the good news about banding late last night. I'm just so glad that 4 out of the 5 chicks were able to get their ID bands and their colored tape. (I'll bet the one chick that stayed out on the ledge and didn't get banded was the same independent-minded chick that often stayed apart from the other chicks in the nest box.)

Between hearing of the banding of the Wilmington chicks and the successful first flights of the Harrisburg chick, it was a "good news" day!

Hmmmmmm....no chicks in the box yet. I wonder if they're staying away because of the banding last night.

I'll be heading into town early tomorrow to hopefully get some pictures of them!

I am not either Kim. Thanks SO much for those video's. They were rather well behaved weren't they? So nice not to have a lot of drama. When looking at the Cam now, they still aren't in the box.

LOL. I was beginning to have the same thought . . . usually at least a couple of them are back in the box by now.

I'm glad to hear that you'll be visiting the falcons tomorrow morning. I'm already looking forward to your pictures.

Greg:

We usually start our watch on day 37 after first hatch. (males go earlier. )Sometimes we have to wait , like last year and the year before we were right on the money. But when you have a lone chick, like we had at Weber last year, they tend to go earlier because they are so well fed and ready. Our biologist told me to prepare for an earlier one at Weber than at the other sites.

The females usually fledge at about day 42 , on the average. I am just relaying our experience at our site .
Everything also depends on when they hatched out. Some say first hatch is a female .

Harrisburg hatch was on april 20 so day 37 was today.

I think night banding is the way to go. Great job here.

LOOKS LIKE THEY WILL BE SPENDING THE NIGHT OUT ON THE LEDGE. SOMETIMES THEY GET TOO BIG FOR THEIR BRITCHES TOO SOON, LOL! I'M SURE IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE BANDING. MAYBE LIKE IN HARRISBURG WHEN LIL ONE LAID BY THE BAD WINDOW, NG WOULD COME OVER AND YELL AT HIM AFTER BANDING DAY. SO MAYBE RG AND CJ TOLD THEM NOT TO GO IN THERE.

GREAT pictures on here today. Thanks to all. Greg, found a Cuckoo wing on the street below the HBG nest ledge today. MUST get off here, as it is storming.

Greg, I think I'm going to start our fledge watch on Thursday, June 2nd! I know I won't be able to take off work on Thursday but I'm going to see if I can take off on Friday.

Kim, and I am going to HBG on June 2nd. Maybe I'll get down on the 3rd in the afternoon for a bit, just to see how it is going. Or even Sat. Just want to watch and see how it goes. Won't disturb the workers.

Check in later. See no one this morning. Did they ever go back in the box?
