Thanks from me, too, Kim and Greybird. It sounds like you have done all you can with regard to this particular situation, and I respect you for it. Thanks for working on a solution for the future, because as SGB said, it's going to happen again; but hopefully the outcome of what happened to our girls this year does not repeat.

Oh my,So, so much good things written here. I agree wholeheartedly with all of it.

I will tell you my conversation with my Biologist friend, who worked in the Aviary at the Philly Zoo for 18 years..... I told Her what happened and she said," Oh, that's to improve the Gene Pool!" She said if the Girls are kept away from the Boy's too long, they wouldn't recognise each other as siblings and could feasibly mate further down the road, weakening the Blood Line. She said at the Zoo they moved Birds around all the time.!!!!!

Now my thoughts about that are, We watched 5 young be rescued in HBG many times over the years. If they were sick, they went to rehab. If not they were not they were returned to the nest area. They all fledged in due time, and ended up a few times in places we know of, but never around their home base.

This is the end of my Ranting, but thought I would give you another "BIOLOGIST's"
view point about it. It does nothing to take away My sadness and heartache about it.

THERE'S NOTHING TO SAY THAT THE BOYS AND GIRLS COULDN'T FIND EACH OTHER AGAIN IN LIFE AND MATE AND WEAKEN THE BLOODLINE, SO WHY MESS WITH WHAT WILL BE? THEY WEREN'T GONE THAT LONG. WE'VE HAD ONES IN REHAB LONGER THAN THAT AND BROUGHT BACK TO MOM AND LIL DAD!

PLAIN AND SIMPLE............THEY WERE WRONG IN DOING THIS!

I just heard that WB is perched on Brandywine Building with adult nearby. This is from Arlene who can see them with a scope from her deck! Hopefully she'll spot RB. I'll be stopping again in the morning.

I agree, they weren't gone long at all. They will be now though so if they meet up again there's a much greater chance they'll mate.

Thanks goes out to Arlene who has watched this nest for 7 years now. I met Her on Sunday and she is a delightful person, so involved just like the rest of us! I know She must be upset!

Kim and Greybird, thanks from me too. For speaking for the forum and for the falcons, and for the update on White and Red.

I am not surprised that Tri-State has responded this way. Doesn't mean I like it. Even though I disagree with them on this issue, I have a deep respect for them and the wonderful work they do. It would be nice if they could be respectful of us also. I resent the dismissive attitude, and very much resent the implication that having an emotional investment prevents clear thinking on a subject. Reason devoid of emotion is just as much an extreme and just as likely to result in faulty conclusions as emotion untempered by reason. Didn't any of them watch Star Trek as kids? It's Spock vs. McCoy all over again.

Well said, Westwindchild. The dismissive attitude is troublesome for me, too. Especially since I have worked with them for many years. I need to regroup and reaccess this situation. It still boggles my mind. I hope our gals are adjusting. It is very hard to let go of this.

Yes, it IS hard to let go of this situation. On Tuesday Sue and I were so worried about when the girls would be returned due to the horrible heat that was in the forecast, never dreaming what would happen. The updates about Red and White are truly appreciated, as it's not possible to run down to Wilmington from Harrisburg as often as I'd like to. I can get to downtown Harrisburg in about 15 minutes, and never tire of going down there. Am hoping that the storm that rolled through down there a while ago wasn't too bad, and that all is well for the falcons and the caring people we've gotten to know down there.

Many biologists seem to be totally unattached to the birds. I know that they can't run around crying every time one is injured or killed but I think that it might be a good idea for some of them spend a little time in front of a cam and actually watch a falcon family interact with one another so that they can better understand how important these bonds are between the male and female, the siblings, and especially the parents and the young.

It sure opened my eyes. I was never much of a bird watcher at all until I happened to hear about a falcon cam and decided to check it out. I was so moved by all that I saw in the behavior of these birds that I have been hooked ever since.

I don't want to think negatively about TriState, because I know they do a good job and a necessary job and I'm grateful that they are there to do it. However, I am still having a problem with their attitude about this situation. It's only their opinion that the wilds of WVa is better for them to look at than a hotel parking lot in Wilmington. Both places have good and bad points as we all have enumerated here the past few days. I am surprised to hear that the biologist at the Philly Zoo said that they move birds around all the time. I take that to mean from zoo to zoo rather than within the zoo. As I read that comment, I thought to myself, so much for mating for life! But then I haven't been to the zoo, and don't know anything about their aviary, so maybe all of the birds are separated anyway and can't interact.

Thanks for the updates on the two boys and the parents! I also checked the camera a few times through the day in case someone ventured in.

I have just read through a few pages.
thanks for the updates on the boys. :girlluv:

Just a few things here I would like to comment on.

1.the girls were only gone for a few days and could have returned yesterday. Last year at our site, blueband girl go stuck in a fan. Our biologist took her home for the weekend and observed her and then Peter and I and he released her right across from nest site(she had been flying for a week) I am mentioning this becasue Red band male( her brother) recognized her right away and went over to play. parents s also recognized her and fed her.

2. I do respect all rehabbers but to say they were better off where they wre going than looking out at some parking lot and hotel :suntalk: :suntalk: :suntalk: Our biologist said they are better off always being returned to their nest site .their best chance for survival is with their adults( I said this before)

3. Biologists tend to try and remain not too attached but then there aare biologists who can remain semi unattached and do what is always best for the bird and be great at what they do. And they also can respect the opinions of those who are helping them out by observing.

I have been watching cams for years and observed from the ground. Many a cam watcher has saved a nest site. Look a the ealges in California, the ealges in Sidney, the falcons at great River, etc.
because we do have human emotions, we have saved many a bird. I truly believe that one must always do what is best for the species. And this time I think they did a great disservice here.
I will pray that these two girls will survive the odds and turn up at site some day. And now I am tired and will sign off.
