Thank you SO MUCH Kim, for posting that information. Green Girl is just beautiful. Am still and will always be having trouble with this situation, though.

Thanks for posting that info from the hacking site, Kim. I too am disturbed that the girls have to wait so long to fly again. Sorry, but it sounds like somebody isn't using their head! :suncrazy:

We need to get Barb over here. I wonder if the 2009 female from the VA James River Reserve Fleet is JJ's daughter.

Weird, I wonder why that's on ammoland.com. And no one from there asked me if they could use my picture.

I believe in the benefits of hacking . . . when the candidates come from bridges, fleet ships, have required lengthy recuperation from injuries, or are orphaned. The girls from Wilmington 2011, however, did not meet any of the criteria mentioned above. Rather, they fell victim to a "regional effort" to move Delaware Peregrine Falcons to West Virginia. I just don't understand it, especially when I've read that PFs in Delaware are classified as "extremely rare" and a "species in need of conservation action."

Well, it's a done deal and hard to read about the girls now. I can only pray that they are strong enough to survive this unnatural release to an area with which they are completely unfamiliar. And my other prayer is that this never happens again.

Sorry if I've offended anyone, but with these latest news articles, I needed to vent one last time.

perhaps they dont knwo what copyright infringement means? Or they dont care until they get some letter from a laywer telling them to cease and desist? That sort of misappropriatioin of a shooters shots can really rile some of us up and make them regret improper use of a photographers shot

tell em to send you a certified check or remove the shot or stand by to get a very strong letter from your legal department

just looked at the ammoland site and, while they list fish and game and conservation as two of the topics they report on, they are very much more firearm centered than wildlife conservation centered.

*just for the record. i am pro responsible firearm ownership but i do not nor have i ever had a desire to hunt. I have an interest in historic firearms and the shooting i do other than with my cameras is at paper targets at a rifle range. I am happy to say that over my carreer, i never had to use my weapon but did come close. Again the keyword in my disclaimer is RESPONSIBLE. Having descended from a noted naturalist in the family , i can respect anyone who stands up for the protection of wildlife and thier habitat. However, just like with firearm proponents , there are limits too

(getting off the soap box)

Actually I don't think there is much I can do since I never sent the picture to have it officially copyrighted. Not without spending a lot of money which would hardly be worth it!

you dont really need to as you posess the raw image the rights supposedly stay with the photographer. As long as you are able to prove you took the shot

Wow,a lot to get through today! Late getting on here. Can't and never will comply with the decisions made. Hard to look at them.

Kim, just another thing to add to the heartache. Anyone writing should know about using a name and especially a picture...........

Kim - Thanks so much for posting the info from the hack site, especially that picture of our beautiful Green Girl! She does so remind me of her mom, Red Girl, when she was a juvie. (And thanks for forwarding the picture of Legs to Mike on the Jersey City topic. I just saw it there, and he's a real cutie!)

It was good to hear that pictures will be taken during release days at the hack site. I'm hoping we'll be able to see pictures of No Band and Green Girl from Wilmington as well as Legs from Jersey City.

P.S. Welcome to the forum, frankiemac!

I may be in the area in mid-July, will the falcons still be around? I'd love to see them if I have a chance.

The young birds here tend to disperse by the end of July. Whether or not they're still around the parents should be; I see one or both most weeks of the year.

Great! If I'm there in mid-July I might actually ave a chance. I'll have to give it a try anyway. Oh, and thanks for the welcoming.
