Got back from lunch to an empty nest, but saw them get returned to the nest. Also saw Dot or Dad show up a bit ago, but then leave again. Hopefully, she'll be back again soon.. maybe with food. Everyone seems calm now.

She is so pretty.

Uh oh I think she wants them all in the corner now. They are reaching at her beak .

Actually she has handled the whole thing pretty well. I've seen the parents go on for hours after the banding process.

Dad just brought in a very tiny snack...Dot, of course, got all excited, stepped all over one of the kids, snagged the "morsel" (and I do mean tiny} and took off with it...maybe the snack was meant for her...The kids didn't get overly excited about it...I'm guessing all the wing flapping from the parents gave them a very brief breeze...

Thanks for the link to your Video, Mick...even though I watched the retrieval in KF's vid, I still gasped, watching him take them out of the box..YIKES...

Now, here's a silly question...watching them clean the lens, the top of the box raises up?!! They couldn't have retrieved the chicks that way? I guess it was safer removing them from the front? Heck, what do I know...all I could think of was please don't drop one as you're moving it from box to pouch...

Thanks for the coverage everybody! I forgot about this until I saw a picture of Dot in the box alone & thought "what the heck is going on"--then I remembered! :thud

Thanks for the videos, Kitten & Mick!

I would like to see them add a front panel that slides over the front like they have at Genessee, so they can remove them from the top of the box & not have a danger of any jumping or falling.

There were a couple of women at work who were back by my desk when the kids returned, so they enjoyed looking at the kids.

I have kept my eye on them most of the afternoon, but it is not easy as I can see how hot they are. I wish there was something that could be done to help them but I sure don't see how. I'll just continue to hope for rain. They are all sleeping now, surely it is cooler this time of the day.
