Other than to get their feathers wet to cool off, don't know of any other ways for falcons to cool off. Of course they pant. I've seen Bald Eagles getting baths on the rocks below the Conowingo Dam already, but don't really know if falcons do that. There's a very small fountain in front of the U Building, but it's RIGHT along the sidewalk on Market Street. I also don't think Red-tails pose any danger to adult Peregrines.

looks to me like its NG on the stick as of 630PM whomever it is we do seem to be panting alot while there on hte stick

As far as falcons bathing, there have been articles posted on this forum with pictures that indicate that some falcons do bath. One of the popular patriarchs of a nest (& I forget which one) was known to take a bath, I believe in a river, everyday. That stuck in my mind because the popular mind set was that falcons don't go to ground. So in my opinion, at least some falcons do bath, but I don't know that they all do.

Also very glad to hear that the broken glass wasn't necessarily from a bird strike!

I FELL TO SLEEP AND THAT WOKE ME UP AND I HAD THE SOUND WAY DOWN! WANT TO CHECK MY VIDEO, OF COURSE IT'S VERY LONG AGAIN, BUT WANT TO SEE WHAT ADULT WAS THERE, I BET LIL DAD. GLAD YOU HEARD HIM SCREAMING JANE!

NG was on the stick and took off about 5 seconds before LO landed. He landed with a big thump and then the screaming.

THE VIDEO IS WAY TOO LONG FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS OF SEEING LIL ONE. BUT, NG WAS ON THE STICK AND LEFT. THEN ANOTHER FALCON COMES AND LIL ONE IN AFTER THAT ADULT SCREAMING, SO I THINK THAT ADULT WAS LIL DAD. HE WAS ACTUALLY BOWING TO HIM AND EECHUPPING.

ALSO THOUGHT THIS PIC OF NG WAS COOL.

NG CAME AND WAS MAKING A BUNCH OF NOISE AND THEN LIL DAD SHOWED UP. LOTS OF NOISE, I GUESS THEY ARE DISCUSSING WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO DO ABOUT LIL ONE, LOL! HEARD LIL ONE DO A SCREAMING FLY BY TOO :danceegg:

NG SHOWS UP AT 16:21 IN THE VIDEO AND YOU CAN HEAR LIL ONE IN THE BACKGROUND AND THEN LIL DAD SHOWS UP AND GOES IN THE SCRAPE.

For heaven's sake , I missed a lot last night. Decided to watch the whole Phillies game. That's what I get for not checking in here. Thank's for filming it Reenie. The whole family !! What a nice thing. Nice picture of the bowing too.

I also missed last night's visit, but after reading about it, I'm wondering if LO ever left the area. Maybe he has his own "bachelor pad" somewhere & NG & Lil Dad go there to get him when its time for lessons. He has somewhere in the area that he goes because in addition to his week-long absence, he wasn't seen or heard from Thurs. a.m. until last night.

I saw a falcon flying over I-81 a ways west of the Hershey exit about 1 yesterday. Couldn't tell whether it was an adult or juvie, male or female, but recognized it because of the shape of its wings. Got the impression that it was too small to be a female, though.

That's a shame you missed LO's visit last night, Nancy. It was a real quick one, and I DID get the impression that NG wanted him outta there. Love the term "bachelor pad", and cool about the sighting off of 81. Maybe I should be on the lookout here!
