Tried to see the tape, but couldn't. Saw the departure a bit ago. You folks in Wilmington might be getting a storm that passed south of Harrisburg about half an hour ago. It's 102 in Harrisburg!

Reenie, I don't think I've ever seen them scratch with their foot like that before! Or is that normal? Pretty cool!

our falcons are wishing for a bit of sun, and so are we. we get one half decent day and then the storms again. I need hip waders n my back yard.

the falocns need raincoats and umbrellas.

good to see your pair.

Well, I missed a lot here too yesterday. Love the entertainment SGB! Also great to have so much activity in the nest yesterday as beastly hot as it was. Goes to show how resilient they are.

Thanks for videos and food report. Great to have so many eyes on these beauties!

Less humid today. Storms a coming this afternoon. Hope they aren't too bad. No rain yesterday.

Here is a picture posted on the Three Rivers site . It is at the very bottom of all the pictures, and I believe it has been added since the original group was posted:

Image

Coincidentally, June 30th is the day I was there, and so I know the info at the bottom of the picture is completely inaccurate. First, the food didn't get placed until 9:00 a.m., and it took the kids about 30 minutes to feel comfortable enough to come and eat. Second, the temperature was nowhere near 97 degrees . . . more like 57 or 67 degrees. So, it is hard telling when this pic was actually taken.

Thanks for posting that Susan! Very odd that the info on the picture is so innacurate.

My thanks too Susan. Don't know what to say about the info, so I'll just say thanks for letting us know about the article. They are all precious!

Here is some info re: Rt. 462 Fledge Watch. They still need help if anyone is available!

Fledge Watchers

First of all thanks so much for your help this coming week monitoring the Rt 462 fledglings. Word has it that the one of the birds is almost completely "downless" and the other is showing more down feathers. At banding on 7/14, one of the birds was significantly larger than the other, so I would expect the older one to go soon.

We have the mornings covered on 7/27, 28, 29, possibly the 30th (to be confirmed, viv, rich, pam) and the 31st, and the afternoon of 7/27. We have no coverage on the 25th or 26th that I am aware of, and dates in early August may be covered (to be confirmed). More on that when I get news.

Please let me know how the birds are doing and any observations you have. I would like to share fledge news with others. Thanks so much!!!

If anyone can cover on Monday and/or Tuesday, or know anyone who can watch, please, please ask them to paddle out those days and let me know. There is shade by the bridge, and small sandbars to get out onto, so someone would not be in the hot sun all day or have to stay in their boat.

Please spread the word, we still need help!

thanks!
-meredith

Nice that they are SO concerned and have many people ready and waiting to help. Thanks for posting Kim. Even though I could never do that , I am very interested in the outcome of their efforts. As My Navy husband still say's often "All Hands Turn To." LOL

Id consider going out there but not until the 2nd of august or the last day on the 5th. Now i can sail a sailboat but i know nothing about using a kyak. At least with a pfd i dont have to worry about drowning but since i fowled up ,pun intended, by bouncing off a car windshield as a pedestrian 10 years ago, dont have the full pain free mobility in the one shoulder due to where i had broken the collar bone where it attached to teh shoulder.

If not mistaken the Turkey Hill ice cream /dairy has some sort of plant and attraction on the eastern side of the river there too. Thats also a good reason for me to trek out that way

I just looked up York Audubon's web site, and got some names and phone numbers for a couple people. Don't know if anything will come of it, but will make some phone calls. I have an obligation tomorrow, and on Tuesday I'll be on an airplane, or otherwise I'd be available.

I read Meredith's message again. Reenie and I had a gab session a while ago, and did some brainstorming regarding some areas Audubon chapters and also Lancaster Bird Club. Contact information being sent to Meredith, as I don't have her email.
