Cool sighting, Faith. I would have had to hunt for a place to pull off quickly. And Greg, the pellet story is very interesting.

Jane, there is really not much of a place to pull over there. Especially when I was in the fast lane!! Traffic heavy at that time too. I did get that "pull" that you get from these creatures. Like wanting to see MORE! Very overgrown with trees etc. Maybe that is where they get the Cuckoo's. I think Greg said that one time. When you are on the roof, if you look towards the Hospital and to the left, that is the area.

Edit: Noticed a lot of feathers in the 'bowl" they were working on. Maybe not doing much scraping in the scrape these days. Don't blame them. Going to 90 degrees and above all week! 97 by Friday! UGG!

Two falcons up on the building now; both look blue-gray on the back so I'm guessing CJ on the box ledge and Red Girl a few ledges to the right (nw).

Chimney swift feathers on the sidewalk and parking garage roof.

Oh my Greg! Feathers on the roof! Maybe blowing around from up above. Or maybe when exchanges took place. Are there sightings of the Boy's lately? They are really keeping the numbers down on the "fancy species" aren't they? Where are the pigeons? Thanks for the report. We have had a sudden drop on Falcon reports, as the Cam is silent in HBG now until next year. Nice to hear about the residents anyway. Always want to know about their comings and goings.

Yes. Feathers end up on the roofs of the garage across the street from the nest and/or the neighboring garage southeast on 11th Street, more than once a week, usually from a falcon plucking prey high on the Brandywine Building. Kim found one of Red Girl's molted primary feathers on the same garage roof a few weeks ago.

Greg that could have been the day we were all there. In the morning, Kim found one along the edge of the lot. Beautiful! A gift from them to Her for all she does looking after them. Any feather is a gift in my mind! Odd how all of us there didn't see it. Only the intended one see"s.

I was in Columbia (although I didn't know that's where I was until I read Reenie's post - haha) again today and as of 6:00 tonight neither of the kids had fledged. I thought for sure one was going this AM but she had second thoughts I guess.

I sure hope someone will be there the next couple days! I'm guessing I will be back Saturday and probably Sunday knowing me...

I think I got some good shots this AM which I will post whenever I get a chance to process! I can't believe how tolerant these adults are as far as getting close to them. Don't try to get anywhere near their kids though! Someone was walking over the bridge this AM and ended up running over the bridge! LOL!

P.s. Reenie, my Blackberry ended up taking a swim in the Susquehana which is why you didn't get anymore txt msgs about falcons!

Great to hear from you Kim. Been wondering how long you were there? Too bad about the Blackberry! What an experience you had and all that you saw! So looking forward to your pictures. Glad your camera is still with you!! Good luck this weekend. Hope the weather holds up. Were there a lot of people there?

WAS SO GLAD TO READ YOUR EMAIL THIS MORNING KIM. WAS WORRIED ABOUT YOU. GLAD YOU AND YOUR CAMERA SURVIVED THE DAY. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE PICS :-)

IT'S SO SWEET YOU WENT DOWN THERE, WAS WISHING THEY WOULD HAVE FLEDGED FOR YOU. MAYBE ANOTHER DAY :-)

LOVED THE PART ABOUT THE GUY RUNNING ACROSS THE BRIDGE AND SOMEONE MENTIONED SOMETHING ABOUT FALCON WATCHING FROM THE BRIDGE! I GUESS THIS MOTHER ISN'T GOING TO HAVE THAT HAPPENING!

Faith, there was a nice man named Charlie there for a while both days and Tim was there for a little while yesterday. When I was leaving Tues night there was someone going out but other than that, no one was around. I sure hope someone was there today and that someone will be there tomorrow!

Reenie, definitely not a good idea to have someone posted up on the bridge! :)

Oh goodness Kim. Thank heavens for Charlie and Tim. Not good to be there by yourself. Bless you for all the time you put in. If you do decide to go back this weekend, I hope the falcon's wait until you are there. After all, it would be nice to experience the ultimate result of being there. Keep in touch with us here.

I guess shopping for a new Blackberry is a for sure!

I actually don't mind being there by myself. It's kind of nice and peaceful floating around with nothing to do but look at falcons. :)

My job pays for my Blackberry so no shopping necessary!

Here are some pics of the girls from yesterday! I love the one where Red is landing and they're both looking at each other! I haven't processed any of the adults yet.

Great pictures, Kim! I also love the one where Red is landing & they're looking at each other! :clapegg:

In your last picture, it looks like there is a nestbox there. Is that the case, or is that just bridge supports?

Those are just the bridge supports. I never did see an actual nestbox but it's somewhere around there. :)

Oh good. I'm glad to hear that they have a nestbox. Many nests under bridges don't have nestboxes & of course eggs roll off the beams, chicks fall, etc.

Thanks, Kim & thanks for being there for these girls! Cheers to you!
:toast :cheerlead:

Actually I just remembered there isn't a nestbox under this bridge. The nestbox is on the other bridge. I believe they installed it 4 years ago but the falcons haven't shown any interest in it.

Kim,

It looks like one knock against bridge nests (no room for kids to exercise and get strong) doesn't apply to this one.
Still, they're over the water, the way city kids are over streets. As Craig told me once, "the little devils just have to get in trouble. Some get lucky, some don't."
