I think you're right! That had to be the most feathers I've ever seen flying around in the box! LOL!

Wow, that flapper created a feather tornado. And in Kim's own personal video, one of the girls nearly lost her balance on the nest platform.

I agree - those were the most feathers that I've ever seen flying around in the nest box! I loved the videos, Kim. Thanks so much for posting.

Through some text messages while on watch in Harrisburg I know that there has been at least one fledge down there this morning. I don't know any details and don't get text messages, so can't provide any more information. And I mean fledge in Wilmington. There are at least two people down there watching.

hope all is well. How old are they. I will go back and check
oldest about 40 days old. A bit young so I hope they are strong. Sorry, not be negative, just surprised they went that soon.

Fledging has begun. Kim and Tim have been on the garage roof for much of the day; I've dropped over twice.

Kim saw White leave the nest about 8:00 am. She made her way over to the Nemours Building roof (to the left of the Brandywine Building as you look across 11th St. from the garage roof). She's out of sight but Red Girl and CJ followed her and returned, not acting worried.

At some point Green jumped off the box ledge to the ledge supporting the box. Later Red jumped down too, either flushing or pushing Green who flew across 11th St. to the Wilmington Trust Building roof (to your right across West Street as you face the nest box from the garage roof). She was there when I left a few minutes ago.

Red has managed to jump back into the box from the ledge below. CJ just brought in food for her and her sister, then left the screaming girls for the roof as fast as he could. Kim said it was the first meal she saw all day but I saw some fresh yellow-billed cuckoo feathers first thing (not wet from last night's rain). Red Girl and CJ have been perched at the edge of the roof a lot this morning, where they can keep tabs on the girls but stay out of close contact with them.

Just a quick look see here in between commitments. Sorry I wasn't able to come down today. I knew in advance today was out. The next two days are too. I'll be in HBG tomorrow and the Grands are coming Friday. So I will be there Sat. morning.......Wouldn't you know they would fledge now. Hope all are safe.

Thanks for your report Greg.

By 2:00 pm EDT had an email from Kim that Green was precariously perched on a tiny ledge on the Brandywine Building (12th floor) so I went over to help. I watched Green from the street while Kim watched everything from the roof. Kim got a call that White was actually trapped on the Nemours Building so she went and fetched her and got a good tongue lashing from Red Girl and CJ when she let White go on the roof of the Brandywine Building. White proceeded to run happily like a mouse along the edge of the roof.

Busy afternoon for Red Girl and CJ. Next they ran off two intruders that came in high, and were last seen headed for New Jersey.

I left Kim watching Green at 5:00 pm EDT. Green hadn't moved in hours and must be getting hungry.

OMG - I can't believe that two of the girls have fledged already! (I'd figured that tomorrow would be the earliest, but then what do I know?)

A huge thanks to Kim, Tim, and Greg for keeping watch and rescuing when needed . . . and to Jane, Greg, and Reenie for posting updates today.

Kim - If you need help with the fledge watch tomorrow morning, I can be there at 8:00. Just let me know.
