All four have fledged. White is back on the Brandywine Building roof, after having successfully accomplished several flying expeditions to other perches on nearby buildings. Red is on a ledge on the face of the Brandywine Building like Green was yesterday. Green and Yellow are across 11th Street on ornamental ledges on the parking garage. Too close to the street, especially Yellow.

Ethel and another volunteer are on the garage roof. Kim is on the street watching the ones on the garage ledges.

Fledge Update

I just got back home - and I'll be a little late for my dentist appointment - but I just wanted to let you know that the Wilmington girls are doing great so far under the watchful eyes of CJ and Red Girl.

When I left, Melissa (a new fledge watch volunteer who'd arrived around 6:00) was on the garage roof watching over White and Red, and Kim and Tim were on the sidewalk across from the garage keeping watch over Green and Yellow. (Earlier I had a chance to say "hi" to Greg and wish him a belated happy birthday when he stopped by to check up on the girls.)

P.S. I took some photos but I'm not sure if any turned out. If some did turn out, I'll post them after I get back from the dentist.

Thanks for the fledge updates! It's good to hear that they are mostly doing well so far, and I hope the two that will probably need to be rescued will have more successful attempts on their next flights.

The situation still is as described by Ethel except that Green has flown to the opposite corner of the neighboring parking garage (to the left as you face the nest site from the "observation roof.") A full city block away and no lower than where she started this morning. So far so good, although she might get flushed by people retrieving their cars at rush hour. Tim saw one of the adults drop her some food. Red was whining for food from the corner of the Nemours Building.

A few minutes ago Steve Martin of my office saw three falcons in the air over Kim's building, and two landed. White is quickly becoming world class in the air and I guess was showing off to Red Girl and CJ.

Yellow remains on a low ledge of the garage and is the chief concern at this point.

A couple of pictures from this morning . . .

This is Green Band on the upper ornamental ledge of the garage. The ledge wraps around the building, and she'd move from one side to the other side and then back again.

And this is Yellow Band on one of the lower ornamental ledges.

Yu can tell these girls have Harrisburg falcon blood in them. And a great mother to help them along. :eggthumbs:
