The smallest one would have died, by tomorrow, Gord said. It was just too small and not getting enough, and was dehydrated and the mites were really bad on it.

so, some of us have been seeing bandedmale and some unbanded male.

there was a banded male on May6, after all eggs. There could have been a switch like in Edmonton.

but maybe she has been calling a lot and on alert sometimes because there are 2 males present at times.

We will really look today.

Now we need a feed

I am so glad that Gord went to the nest so quickly to take the two youngest chicks. Now they will have a good chance; this could make all the difference for the littlest chick. Bev, I don't know why you feel bad - you realized there was a problem, and you did a really good thing. You are also giving the two older chicks a better chance to do well. I hope everything will go well for the whole family from now on.

I have been watching for a while, but have not seen an adult so far.

Carolyn, thank you for the video.

3:41pm

they have not been fed since 10:15am

We know they stay away a bit after an intruder(human) so they should be in to feed soon

Peter and Elaine and I will be heading out there adn so I have to leave about 4pm(very soon0

If anyone sees a feed can they please note it as we will not be able to see in cam. It is a secure site so we have to be a long way off, but we can see the skies etc. and the box and area around.

thanks

Bev

Thank-you for posting pictures and feedings and goings o n.

When we got out there we checked from north direction first. We could not see nest box but we could see whole area. We thought we saw a falcon on a power pole but when Peter and Elaine went a bit later to investigate, it was a hawk. It was on this pole that our other male used to sit.

When we got to a spot on highway , where we could park safely, we went down embankment and had a good look at box. One falcon was perched on cam outside box ( to the right side as you look out). Elaine then spotted another Falcon , way on the top of tower where box is. Way up at top.
so we do have 2. So why is food skimpy??.

after a bit , one on cam flew off and soared around. then the other one flew off and soared around also. Like no cares in the world. no aggression.

this is when Peter and Elaine went to check on what we thought might be another falcon. I stayed put to watch. They soared right out o f view, and so chicks alone???

Elaine and Peter came back with the news , which was good. We looked to the skies to see if we could spot them, and the one on cam must have snuck in, it was on cam

So why are chicks not being fed. Then about the time Susan posted, a falcon flew in and around and one went into box. We could see falocn feeding chicks through scope. there must have been a food drop by falocn flying by, but we could not see. we jsut saw a quick fly by box and Peter saw one enter with scope.

It was great to see the feed.

We watched for a bit as the other falcon soared out east .

when we left , feed still going on in box and no sign of other falcon.

But questions still. Why is food skimpy all of a sudden. since about the 18th. Gord, said male not banded and I know some of you have seen unbanded male,

could he have been here first, then banded male came back , eggs laid and then other male came back, or new male altogether???I just hope he is not courting .

So we watch to make sure they are getting fed and watch that mites are not bothering them too much. If skimpy feeds or mites become a problem, Gord will come back. Banding is on Thursday of next week.
