Thanks kittenface, I hope Edison does well. :egg 19:

Your welcome and yes I'm right there with you on hoping things go well with sweet Edison, I just hope that things get better next yr. I think we should start about a month before they are due to come back next year bugging them with emails and maybe a few phone calls about the nest if they don't change it, like SGB said earlier they said they were going to do it last year and they never did so we may have to give them a little push in the right direction this time :egg13:

I think we should email and recommend they move the box back. . even if they have to place it right on top of the roof, then at least there won't be any kids being blown out of the box. .

Yes and it wouldn't hurt to put the lip up a bit higher like Great River did

We?re sorry to report that after a few flight attempts off our downtown Topeka rooftop, our young falcon, Edison, has been found deceased on the rooftop. It appears that after an unsuccessful flight attempt, he had a mishap that resulted in a neck injury that was fatal.

Peregrines may typically live to be 12 to 15 years old; however, the mortality rate for young falcons is higher than 50 percent.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to watch our falcons' progress this spring, submit and vote on your favorite falcon names and email us your feedback. Your interest and support of the falcons is heartwarming.

We're hopeful for a more successful season next year. We'll continue to send updates on parents Nemaha and Boreas.

Send feedback and questions to CorpComm@WestarEnergy.com

Sincerely
Westar Energy Corporate Communications

Falcon Cam

I just came from reading the same e-mail. I am so very sorry that little Edison has been lost. What a sad year for the Topeka nest. I wonder what actually happened to cause this accident.

I hope that at least they will move the nest box back from the edge for next year, and maybe add a good-sized sundeck in front with a reasonably high edging around it to give the birds some space to move around without going too far when they are still young.
