UNFORTUNATE NEWS -- We learned yesterday that the youngest of the two Manchester Peregrine Falcons has met its demise only about two weeks after leaving its nest. It was found in the boiler room of the Manchester National Guard, a building very close to the bird's nest at the Brady Sullivan Tower. It is believed that the bird fell in or flew in the chimney and ended up on the boiler room floor. It was recovered there, the band was read, and it was reported to NH Audubon. The bird will be returned to NH Audubon for further study. Certainly not what we hoped for, but it is nothing over which we we have much control. The brother peregrine falcon at last report was doing well.

I just read this a few days ago. How sad for the little baby to end up going down the chimney. I assume that nobody was there to help him. I hope that he died instantly, because otherwise it's too heartbreaking to think about. :cryinggirl:
