Yesterday, the young LSE, Stephi, was exercising her wings.

Later, she was attacked by another raptor, possibly a goshawk. But she successfully repelled that attack:

And after that - some rest.

Both parents arrive at 9:25 p.m. and bring a fish

Feeding, but received with a moderate enthusiasm.

Appreciate the beautiful pictures!

The sun is up and the young osprey are preening. Mom is close by, but out of sight of the camera. In the distance, a wild animal or bird calls... and calls.

The calls remind me of an Eurasian Eagle Owl calling out to her mate:

NancyM (OurNatureZone) says the mysterious calls come from a Crane, according to European members in the Looduskalender forum.

Checked iBird on iphone and found three cranes. The COMC, Common Crane, (Grus grus) makes that call. Several sites on the Internet report a decline in population. There are efforts to bring this bird back to areas from which it has disappeared.
