I'm so glad he fledged-finally! MAK just texted me that they've seen no sign of DC this AM-strange as he's been on guard with B for so many days then misses the fledge.

He's likely somewhere you can't see him Kris. His job now is keep the air space clear so he'll be incognito. Jack does the same thing during fledge watch. MAny times I cursed him for not being there and suddenly a strange bird would try to fly through and he'd jump off from a rooftop and nail it! He could also be keeping an eye on Pigott so she doesn't attempt to come in and disrupt the situation. Don't forget how far they can see, I'd bet he knows exactly where Orion is. :girlyes:

MAKfalcon (MAK): O is tucked up against SE wall of Crossroads under rail in shade. B remains on W corner top ibeam OCSR

Just strange because when I was at the fledge watch on Monday and everyday since then, he's been out in plain sight keeping an eye on the boy. We're heading to Rochester at 1:30 for a Dr. appointment & will be checking out BS to see if we can see him there with Pigott.

I hope he's okay Kris, I always worry about DC. I am telling myself he's hunting or hiding nearby keeping an eye on things! I do worry about Pigott now, she has her adult feathers from the looks of MAK's photos and though she wouldn't hurt Orion, a swoosh is enough to knock him out of the sky until he learns to maneuver and defend himself.

Beauty seems okay and I'm sure she'd be on alert if something was up so I'll take my cues from her - she hasn't steered us wrong yet :sum10:

Beauty's a good mom and has her eye on him. MAK says still no sign of DC yet-he's pulled the disappearing act before. Beauty's been trying to hunt-stooped on a pigeon a couple times. No food for O yet this AM-not since yesterday AM.

I asked about seeing if people in Crossroads building could lock the door & Carol P. says they "can't stop people from going on their roofs. If he gets spooked he'll fly."

that is too bad as they cooperate here. I just explain the situation and ask them to keep doors locked fr a week after fledge and they do. Did they try .

Remember Beauty will have a stash somewhere , so if she needs it she will go to it.

From Twitter Updates:

Orion flew to the south side of TSB where he was this morning. He has since moved to the north side, one level higher than nest box. Beauty is above him.

Kris checked BS. Found Pigott, but no DC.

How do you force them to lock the door? Simple, tell them if the bird panic flies and hits a building - they could be arrested, charged and fined for putting an endangered species at risk. Not suggesting a threat, in fact if you act like you're just giving them a friendly tip..they often comply easily. Most people aren't aware of the species act nor the fines and liabilities that go with it.

You need a mouthy, little bully there...like me...they'd lock the door just to shut me up :sunno:

Someone get carly the phone number :hahah maybe she'll find another sweet accented man that she can sweet talk some of those New york guys have a voice i could listen to all the time :sum4:

Sort of wish Orion would tuck in and take it easy now. He's done a good amount of flying for his first day.

Wuss Alert!

He's so beautiful... I want to cry. Something about seeing him in a video and in these pictures, so close up.

:tissue:

What a lucky guy to get such a close up view!

I think he knows where he is SGB. He was likely looking sideways and cocking his head since O was close by and that's how they view things close up. To us of course it looks odd but I'd be surprised if he didn't know his whereabouts. The parents always know...even when us humans don't, they do

He might have wanted him to come home since he's on a narrow ledge.

Yes. . I know. . I was joking. .

I just phone ighten then go and talk to them and enlighten them about the peregrines, and then just tell them that if they are spooked suddenly it could cause them to fly into something and they are a protected species. so far I have had no problems

Fingers crossed
