I am lucky enough to see Orion flying like an adult. He seems to have skipped the juvie stage, let's hope. He is tucked in safe and sound on OCSR where few falcons choose to perch. He is on the restaurant level, of course, on the first ledge just at the base of the windows. There is an overhang from the top of the building just above him. He landed on the north side and walked completely around the restaurant. Beauty and Dot.Ca were out hunting.

He caught some wind and glided between TSB and OCSR, not once, but twice. He seems very able to maintain his height and fly up! Fingers crossed he remains safe and sound.

You can easily tell when Orion will fly. He starts kakking and flapping and running, yes, running back and forth before takeoff. Hope you get to see him. He is fabulous.

My visit to Falcon Mecca is over. I highly recommend getting to Rochester to meet the watchers and see the birds.

I live 35 minutes south-west of Rochester and we're getting a horrible storm right now that will probably be heading to Rochester. Thunder, lightning, pouring rain. Wind gusts could get up to 60 mph with possible hail! MAK just texted me that Orion is hiding tight up under NE wing right now. Hope he stays there where he'll be safe!

Oh no Kris, stay safe! Thanks for letting us know where Orion is. I'm sure Beauty will make sure he is safe, she stayed with him during all the storms when he was in the nest box!

It blew right by us here and was hoping it would there too. We've just now had a bit of rain but not enough to rid us of that oppressive heat yet.

Yeah-a nice, gentle, all day rain with temps lowering to the hi 70's would be a real treat! We had a huge crack of lightning a while ago with a short power outage. Winds aren't too bad right now but NWS says it'll intensify later. We usually get the storms first before Rochester so I do give MAK a heads-up what to expect.

I did indeed make it safely to Rochester and down to the bridge to meet Dan and Jeanne. They quickly showed me where Orion was settled in for the night (at least we hope) and then where DC was. My sister and I plan to be down tomorrow bright and early to see some flying. Got to get to bed.

Somehow this got lost in my iPhone and here it is MOnday morning. Have seen orion fly and successfully (pretty much) land a few times. No meals so far. Meeting lots of great falcon ears, Dan, Jeaane, Lynda, MAK, Larry and Donna. Love seeing both birds and people.
