I like to keep track of the falcons that have fledged from Canton, OH. and now live in Canada. One of them is Caspian

They are all in Ottawa this weekend for a big sports show but we don't use 'two letters on our bands in the South. Our bands our always two numbers and one letter, ie: 41/X or 45/Y. That being said that's only for the GTA area. There are falcons up in Northern Ontario and of course other provinces that might use that number sequence.

Where has the falcon been seen? That might help determine location it came from. For example our Ontario falcons typically go into the Eastern US but if it's been seen in the Western US - it may be from Bev's neck of the woods?

40/AE is familiar to me though, have we had this conversation before?

Oh Cr*!% your correct Carly...Not Canadian!!!...I just found a piece of info this morning, that it is a PA bird...Sorry for any confusion!! :sum8:
Info I found is here:

We may have had this conversation before! After 40 the mind goes... right? :upwave:

:girlcrazy: Don't get me started about being forgetful . . .

Another tidbit about bands: Canadian bands are Black/Black, so if there's a Black/Red or Black/Green band (not tape), it is most certainly a Midwestern or Eastern U.S. peregrine.

Toronto Residential update from The Peregrine Falcon Zone :

Feb 22, 2013 - February Update

Given recent activity I wanted to post a quick update to the site.

At our site, we currently have 2 falcons, namely Jack our usual male, and Mom our usual female.

Jack has been witnessed mating at his other nest at Bloor and Islington this week, so chances are his hormones and our female are getting ready for their spring mating ritual. Don't be surprised if you see something in the trees, they have a particular spot they seem to like.

This morning, I saw Jack and Mom working in unison to get rid of a seagull that had come into the area. They were definitely working together, and definitely trying to keep any kind of intruder away, so clearly they are now in a territorial mode.

I wouldn't guess quite yet but it does seem the birds are leaning towards the middle nest ledges more than the southmost ledges. Time will tell.

Cheers and more to come as things unfold. Once we get some sunnier days I would expect a flurry of activity, in the meantime we watch and wait.

From what I understand they haven't had a live cam here for a couple of years, so this is a very old web capture. It does refresh but the pic never changes. There has been a sighting of a peregrine capturing a pigeon in the car park of the mall.
