I thought the same thing...it appeared they knew each other...so, does that mean this was DC or does this mean Beauty and this male have been sneaking around together...Knowing how close they keep tabs...I think we would have heard if Beauty was flying with another falcon..

Prague Zoo kitten. Kamba is 40 years old and has never had her own baby, she lost one many years ago the same way - couldn't deliver it and she had a heart attack and the baby was stillborn.

They thought she was not able to reproduce anymore as she had stopped her menses and suddenly she started and before they could get some birth control in her she got pregnant which is very risky at her age and with all her problems. Anyway they ended up having to perform an emergency c section on her and found a tumour inside her that the baby would never have gotten past - the baby died inside her. They also took the opportunity to sterilize her so it won't happen again.

She's the most wonderful gorilla kitten, she's like the favorite auntie of the other kids and cares for them and they all adore her. We all wanted so much for her to have her own baby but it was not to be but at least she's alive and recovering.

Oh that is so sad I'm glad to hear Kamba is not going to have to go thru that again, it seems that the ones that would make the most awesome mothers never are.
BIG HUG FROM HERE IN MILTON FOR YOU.

RIP LITTLE ONE

First, Carly, so sorry to hear about Kamba and her baby. So sad.

I hope this is DC. I've been running around today and was so happy you were able to get these videos SGB!!!

Will watch tomorrow morning, hoping he comes back in and they can make a positive ID.

I just saw Bev's post on rfalconcam and then the pics! This is an interesting development! Wonder if it is DC. MAK and Carol haven't seen any males around this past weekend or MAK this AM. Hmmm...

Come on now--nobody's mentioning it! I know I'm not the only one who'd like it to be Archer (as unlikely as that is). So I'm hoping its Archer or DC. Just saw this on Rfalcon's FB page & had to make sure it was posted here. Too dark now so we'll have to wait til tomorrow! I know I'll be checking frequently! :loveshow:

Carly, I'm sorry about Kamba's baby. :girlsad3: Kamba sounds like a real sweetheart & I'm really glad she pulled through.

me too...that's why I am just making it back here...LOL...catching 2 on the cam freaked me out..I had so many windows open trying to find the best angle for the vid AND the stills I crashed my browsers...I went to the archives to see if I could find a better pic..and nope...I've tried isolating pics from the video..really not much help..sometimes I see a black band on the left leg, other times not..from looking through the archives, it doesn't appear he was there for long..but, beauty sure was excited!!!

Catwoman, I too thought of Archer and of course, DC...so, I'm not even gonna try to guess. After seeing how accepting Niecey was at HBG to No Band, nothing surprises me anymore..

Hopefully, now that we know there is a male in town, we will all be on high alert..

Carly, I am so, so sorry about Kamba and her baby. Gorillas are so endearing. The way they care for each other and look out for each other, humans should take note!!! I do hope she will have a swift recovery and return to being that loving "auntie".

So sorry about Kamba's baby, Carly. :sorrow:
Archer had a white feather in the middle of his right wing which I didn't see on this tiercel. To me, on the video, he seemed indifferent, not interested? DC was never too warm towards Beauty though-more to Unity and Pigott so could be how he would react if he saw B at the box. Tomorrow could be interesting!

June Summers-president of the Genesee Valley Audubon Society (GVAS) made this statement and KrisG thought I should post it here for all of you.

Thank you for your dedicated following and support. There seems to be some confusion about the relationship between the DEC and Genesee Valley Audubon Society. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Bureau of Wildlife, Endangered Species Unit oversees all things Peregrine Falcon. They allow GVAS to keep the cameras focused on the nest box and allow us access to the box with a DEC escort. The DEC does NOT give GVAS any funding. GVAS is funded by gifts from our members and friends and part of the membership paid to the National Audubon Society.
Spring is almost upon us and I am sure we would all like to have an enjoyable Peregrine breeding season. In the past few years funding and personnel cuts have been made at the DEC. The DEC will not have as much time in the future to find injured and dead falcons as they have in the past. GVAS volunteers are only allowed to search, rescue and recover injured or dead Peregrines on the ground. We then work with the DEC to get the Peregrine to a veterinarian or rehabilitator. Please remember we will do our best to take care of situations when they arise but, these are wild animals that naturally have conflicts with territorial intruders. Sometimes these conflicts end in injury or death. Please try to remain calm during these times or remove yourself from the situation for the day. Emotional responses from a few people make these events even more unpleasant for the rest of us. Thank you.

June
