Well, whatever is going in is very abnormal for these 2.

To me, it was Lil in the You Tube video from 3/8/13 @ 5:50PM.

After seeing the email regarding the battle, and seeing the bird, I thought it was Dan on eggs.

11:29AM, after panning out to ledge, someone snuck back in and is back to eggs and someone is there.

What's throwing me is the smaller box and normally Lil isn't so sleek looking. If it is Lil, she's definitely fidgeting.

I'm going to go back & look at some of the pictures.

I'll try to get a picture. The way the sun is hitting the scrape right now, there are alot of shadows & the cam keeps pixelating when I try to get a picture.

11:44AM - whoever is on the eggs has now gotten up was standing on edge of box and is now on ledge. Just walked down ledge out of cam view.

11:45AM, someone just walked back to scrape (just at bottom of picture).

There's obviously something going on... I'll post some information from forum.

From SF Yahoo Group:

Lynn asks: Could these be the Sutter birds or a third pair???!!!!

Mary M responds: All the action seems to be coming from the bridge and east to Treasure Island. The other pair is to the west and north and they were both in sight just before the fight yesterday (although I don't think anyone had them in sight at the time of the fight)

So, this may be another pair?

Here's what I find interesting....

1) The Bay Bridge has been used for years as a nesting site. I believe Dan and his former mate may have used it. I believe she was lost right after hatching a few years ago (2008). I think it was right when I started watching these birds as I saw a news piece about Glenn going to band and finding dead chicks and that's when I started watching San Jose.

2) The Bay Bridge just started a new nighttime light show within the past week. Don't know if that would upset the resident pair, but maybe?

3) I believe it was posted last year that Espie (Hiko's sister from Clara and Jose, San Jose 2007) and her mate disappeared and only an old rotten egg was found. I thought I saw a post that Espie moved to the Bay Bridge? Going to look back at posts on the forum.

When they start watching these birds from ground, and especially if aerial intrusions are happening near the nest, will be interesting to hear what they see.

Whoever is on the eggs right now appears to be chupping as I see the beak opening along with the tail moving up and down in conjunction. This seems like a good sign.

Here's a post from July 2012... Espie is on the Bay Bridge....

Couldn't find the exact post in Yahoo Group, but may be the search feature..

"Bay Bridge Banding, one male eyas 7/17/2012

I was lucky enough to accompany Glenn for the banding of one eyas on the Bay Bridge today. We were happy to find out that the falcon was Espie from San Jose."

Now, I do think this is Lil on the nest at 12:06PM.... She's just got a sleeked back head.. Normally it's a little more poofed out I think.

Thanks Matrix. I was going to say I thought it was 2 different birds, but I think the lower is Lil and upper is Dan.

HOW TO TELL DIAMOND LIL & DAPPER DAN APART:

Diamond Lil has a rosy colored breast plummage and is larger with a white area visible at all times behind the dark malar stripe, the dark feathers below the eye.

Dapper Dan has a whiter breast plummage, a full malar stripe that hides the white area behind it in most views (a full hood). He is also smaller.
