It sure seems that way, mwplay...
I'll tell ya, if this is a new female AND if she hangs around AND if she does not help with incubation, then I hope they will take those eggs...DEF is right...it was just so sad to see PA incubate those eggs for so long..Plus, maybe this female (if she's staying) will lay a clutch...
Pretty certain they won't take the eggs. I think there was a communication to the group that they (authority agency) were no longer going to allow for removal of pre-fledge birds from basically 0% survivability locations (bridges over waterways). Unfortunately, we've got many bridges around here and the peregrines have decided it's a great place to nest. The bridges are over deep waterways (SF Bay) with slim to no chances of surviving fledge. I don't know if this has changed in the past 8-10 months, but I doubt it. I believe the rationale behind that decision was the population is no longer in jeopardy?
I don't know this for certain - but from some of the posts regarding "SFO" my interpretation is there may be some question on whether or not they will continue to allow Glenn to rehab. I think there's info in one of his posts (he's holding SFO after being anesthetized for further evaluation) on the blog.
Oh well, I drew my own conclusions on from the prior communcations regarding rehab & no removal… Without knowing for sure, I shouldn't comment one way or another, but I know it was a point of discussion at the end of last nesting season in SF. If something was done during the off season, It wasn't publically communicated.. maybe because they were trying to work through the issues without and uproar. People on the SF group were recently discussing all kinds of things regarding the owner's decision not to take Glenn up on his offer to place a nest tray at the Sutter location. I think they tried to de-escalate the situation quickly.
