mwplay, I remember watching one of Glenn's banding videos from last year (will have to see if I can find it)...very dangerous climb up to the bridge scrape...I believe there was comment centered around that vid that he would no longer be able to band or rescue the bridge birds and he was not very happy...
Right - good memory - and that was a small waterway bridge, not the Bay Bridge, San Mateo Bridge, Dumbarton, Benecia, Carquinez, Richmond-San Rafael or Golden Gate!!!
That's when all the uproar over losing the ability to remove these birds started on the group. They asked people to focus on SF babies and let them deal with the issues off season.

Somewhat Off-Topic, but related to birds in SF Bay Area. Very sad to me....
This information was posted on SF & SJ forum, and SFBAY Raptors Yahoo Groups:
Here is a video that shows the successful removal of 4 young Falcons in the Bay Area and were relocated to a hack box in Northern California. Here is the statement that was made at the end of the movie enjoy the viewing.

No peregrine falcon has fledged successfully from this bridge nest site since it was established five years ago. The young birds fledge into the bay and drown, or in the case of one youngster, broken a bone upon fledging causing an uncertain end. The UC Santa Cruz Predatory Bird Research Group has moved nestlings from dangerous bridge nests in northern and southern California since we first observed them drowning after unsuccessful fledging attempts. We have released them at "hack sites" according to protocols established during the population recovery. "Sadie" at the Oracle territory and George at the PG&E territory are just two of those bridge rescue/released birds. We have learned since the May 3rd, 2012 rescue shown here that Region 8 of the US Fish and Wildlife Service prefers to "let evolution take its course" and that future nestling extractions will be disallowed.
