Cher

Recorded 8:42-8:46 am--note the position of the eggs as she gets up..she is not incubating during any of this.

Editorial: The eggs, so far, are not having a good day.

Sorry, I forgot to note time..

Dad was on eggs (couldn't have been long)

Cher entered at 9:14...of course, Dan flew off..and she is just standing there, out side the box. She now moved over to egg outside the box, but I really can't see what she is doing...and..she is gone at 9:16

OK..here's a BIG "what-if"...

Dan and Cher are canoodling
Cher is "pregnant" or gravid----->leading to increased interest in the eggs as prep for laying her own..

Big what-ifs, I know..guess time will tell...

I was thinking that yesterday SGB wait and see I guess

Was away from cams for a bit.

Open to find Cher laying in scrape at 11:44AM. She had 1 egg out from under her. Took me a minute and her to look to the side to identify her.

She's pebble picking now. Doing some scraping near eggs.

Holding my breath as she scrapes near 1 egg.. hoping it's not kicked to the curb too.

Cher is laying in the scrape over 2 eggs. 1 egg is pushed toward front corner.

She's been laying down for about 2 minutes now...11:50AM

Okay. I don't think she knows how to "properly" incubate. She lays down but doesn't gather them close to her. That one egg was pushed away when she was scraping.

Do you think she at least had her wing/body over the 2 eggs to the left?

1153 - here's Dan - how long before he realizes 1 egg is missing?

This poor guy....

OK..here's the sequence:

11:35-Dan on eggs, vocal...Cher enters at bottom of cam..dan leaves
11:38-Cher into box, scraping to left of eggs..then digging in the middle of the eggs
11:39-cam zoom..Cher still picking at gravel, scraping and stepping on eggs

11:53-Dan returns..has not gathered in the 3rd egg which is behind him

Here's what appears to be happening..

She scrapes..and then just lays there...gets up, scrapes, then just lays there...I can't really say that is any form of incubation..she doesn't attempt to gather the eggs, etc..

I think her lying there is only the result of her scraping...just my opinion and watching her do this for the past whatever amount of time...the few other times she was just lying there, once she got up, there were no eggs under her..

I agree no incubation.

Yesterday when she was down for 20, she wasn't incubating, but I think laying over eggs.

Maybe similar to some females who lay in scrape prior to egg laying... Like Niecey did prior to egg #1?
