Terka - Thank you so much for your pictures with the timestamps. I know they are trying to determine how long the eggs are uncovered and this is very helpful!

First light - eggs uncovered.

Cher made visits at 0723 and 0743. No incubation, just visits to box area.

Dan returns to eggs at 0754.

Well, eggs have been uncovered since my last post..they have now zoomed in on Cher, who is to the right of the nestbox, picking at the mat.

She really has filled in...I hardly recognize her..

Glenn said that as long as temp is O.K. they can be off for a few hours. Dan really turns them a lot

I cannot even begin to make a prediction here. We just never know anymore

Well, if they are still viable, then hatching could be delayed due to the sporadic incubation. Hatching should have started withing the next couple of days..

I just can't predict either..but, even babies make me nervous. I don't think Cher would harm them, but there is no guarantee that she would feed them either. Remember S2? How long did it take her to realize that the food Pa was bringing was for the chicks and not a food gift for her..

I think the difference will be Cher will have over 2 weeks of courtship, before eggs hatch, i they hatch but S@ came in and they were already born, her hormones were not there . but I think Chers hormones are a ticking LOL

4:39pm Cher flew off ledge
$:44pm cher is seen on platform in front of box. (rolls egg and pecks at stuff on ground)
4:48pm Cher in box pecking at pebbles and scraping. She scrapes over eggs adn lies on them (no t incubate) but it still will give them some warmth
4:51- lies on top of eggs (not incubate)
4:52pm She is up and flies off

4:53pm Dan comes in
5:44pm they zoom to ledge an d Cher on ledge
5:54pm they go back to eggs and Dan is on them

6:14pm Dan squawking but stays on eggs
6:30pm Dan still on eggs

EXCEPT..yes, Cher's hormones are raging...but, food from Dan represents courtship..NOT go feed the kids!!! I guess we'll know in a few days as this starts to play out...fingers crossed here..

Oh..what about this scenario..1 or more eggs hatch and Cher lays a clutch...now what... :girlcrazy: Does the sight of chicks stop egg production?

That would be disaster. I would hop e they would intervene then. and take chicks or eggs(if she is feeding chicks) , take eggs out and incubate them but what do I know
