My cam is not refreshing automatically. I have been gone most of the morning and it still said 8:24Am. Picture now is not much different so today could be #3...

Ground report: Storms came through this morning with some wind gusts. Drove through downtown this afternoon between 3:10 and 3:20 and saw a falcon on the NE corner in the rain, so he has come through ok. He was looking a bit smaller and wetter than usual, but not bothered. Since the rain has slacked off, maybe he is out hunting dinner before it starts up again.

Cam report: She is moving around a bit on top of the eggs, but I can't see how many there are. :3eggs: or :3eggs:  ?

Ground report: 10:48 the tiercel is in his window. Haven't seen much of him otherwise.
Cam report: A few times today, G seemed to be looking around as though she heard something, and sometimes looked up to the roof of the nest box. I wasn't able to watch long enough to catch the male, but he must be around sometimes. I wonder if he sits on the eggs sometimes while she gets out and about. I can't tell them apart from the back when they're sitting down.

Its 1:32, and I believe Papa is sitting on the eggs. Dark head, and as far as I can see no speckles on his chest ? Do you folks think he is pretty young also (like many other new tiercels?)

Ground report: Bird on the CC Building at 9 am , but I could not stay to watch.

Cam report: 5:31 pm , a bird flew in just as I turned on the cam. I think this is our Mr. because he is smaller, and because he acts less experienced about eggs. Much fussing over eggs, moving them just a little bit, got to be just so, and then much fluffing up of himself and some turning, got to get himself thoroughly fluffed to keep these eggs warm in this chilly 56 degree weather :coldwinter: !

Tsusan, I think you are right about him being pretty young, but fortunately he is not too young to be devoted to his eggs, those poor  eggs which would surely freeze in this :cold: 56 F climate if he did not fluff himself up to the max to keep them warm ! What would we falconheads do without the little Mr.?

6:40 pm The little Mr. is blinking. Looks like he is getting sleepy on top of those eggs. 6:42 Now he's awake ! Something happened and he has to check those eggs in case maybe one of them moved or escaped or something. He moves the light egg back two millimeters, checks all the eggs and then fluffs himself up because the eggs have gotten chilly in the 8 and a 1/2 seconds that he was partway off of them. 6:46 Now he is looking around. You know, he is really cute. He reminds me a little bit of Indianapolis' Will. ...... I wonder if G will let him take an all-night shift?

from last night: Cam report: G came in to replace the tiercel some time between 7:00 pm and 7: 50 pm.

Ground report: I saw our little tiercel on the Tower Building last night around 11: 50 pm. He was one window down from "his" window, hunched toward the window, ( probably didn't want the rain in his face. )

Today: G on the nest, sitting. I'm glad she laid the eggs in full view of the cam. :-)

He was indeed looking chipper, wasn't he ! Momma G. came back around 2:00 and young tiercel jumped up and flew away... :flirty: Interesting to see the different coloration of the eggs... Thank you SB watcher for your reports :girlyes:

Ground report: saw a falcon on the NE corner about 5:00 pm. I think it was the male, who now seems to have a name:

http://www.southbendtribune.com/news/sb ... 3683.story

From watching him, it is clear that the biggest thing in his life right now is those EGGS!! :easterbsk:

I can't wait until he sees his first chick !! :egghatch:

Zeus? Well, I guess that is okay. Wonder if Carol named him.

My sympathies on the loss of Zeus at Woodmen. :sorrow:

Maybe the name Zeus is to carry on the South Bend "Z " theme, Zephyr, Zoe, and Zeus. He is an earnest little bird, quite domestic and content with one wife, unlike his mythological namesake.

6:26 am, little Zeus is sitting on the eggs right now, alert, just in case ...... I know it's way too early for hatch time, but guarding four eggs is a big job for a little falcon. I just hope the little guy can get some sleep. :zzzzz
