Bev - you don't think there was a change in male during egg laying do you? Didn't Fernando do stuff like this when he first arrived in San Jose?

I'm going to go back to the archives....

I believe this is new male this year at Genesse.

We had a change mid season last year, that is why little feed after chick number 2 hatched. war was going on. food was great and then a stoppage fora bit. we think after hatching started a nest take over. there had been banded male and then no bands. this may be one that took over but I do not know.

did not get a chance to see the new male too much last yer. when I have time I will look at picutres. but this is one appears young .
he is doing good job, so I think the one that started season here as he does incubate

Wow. Didn't remember about nest takeover during hatch. I remember the issues when Transmitter Dad arrived late and they put in dummy eggs for awhile. And I remember last year them taking 2 of the eyasses? Or am I messing up the years?

Glad to hear he's doing a good job!

you have years correct. I really miss TR guy. He was great male but this one is doing good job with food, just has to get copulating down betterLOL

that is one o f reasons the 2 youngest were not getting enough food last year. then when they took them out they found they were suffering from mites also and dusted them all and cleaned box

The female just left. There was someone right outside the box, but I couldn't tell if it was her, or a male. He/She did not re-enter the box (7:10PM PT).

ETA: SEE MY NEXT POST - I think I had them confused. I think the male was on the eggs (unbanded). He left and I think the female came in. I caught a picture...

Okay - I think I had it wrong. Whoever was on eggs and left was unbanded - or I totally missed the bands.

Bird on now has band (7:16pm PT)

Looking back at videos you've posted in last few days, I think the female is on now. I think the unbanded male was on before. He had what looked like some dried blood or dirt on his chest. Could have just been from prey. His head was pretty fluffed up and he looked alert when he was on eggs.

Hopefully this all makes sense...

yes, I have played all my tapes and so far original unbanded male is still here. he was on eggs . It took awhile for this to settle. they came twice to box(both males)

Female had come in , quite a bit later rolled eggs laid on them, an d left again.

I will post them(videos) in minute but I think this is our young one from Weber last year. or one of hacked birds.
I have to send to Gord

Man, I hope eggs are O.k. but the way the unbanded male acted, he was not too concerned.

he just brought prey into female a bit ago so blood was probably from prey, but i am keeping clsoe tabs

did not get that taped as I was viewing tape from intrusion and only have so much room

Opened cam to find eggs uncovered, but within a minute, I believe the unbanded male showed up. He's currently incubating (8:56AM Canada Local time)

9:00AM - he just got up. Is standing outside nestbox, facing outward. Looks like he might be vocalizing and looking upward.
