3 Boys?? That's what I guessed. I think there were only like 2 votes for 3 boys on the SJ forum.

I know! You mentioned it here several days ago!

After looking yesterday, I guessed 1 female, 2 males. I thought 1 was just a little larger than the other 2, but hard to tell.

Ljames does such a wonderful job posting mid banding pictures. Thought I'd give you a view of him coming down the wall, getting set up. Also a few after banding shots.

These boys were feisty this year. Normally they just lay there, comatose. Not this year. This little one tried to take a bite out of Glenn's hands, but I think the last one was the feistiest. These boys are gonna keep Mom & Dad busy!

And, 1 last request from the kids:

"Dad, did you get a piece of that intruder for breakfast?"

Yes, one did seem bigger, but I compare them to the size of FC, if they are the same or smaller, boys. Even the biggest one was the same size as FC it looked like. I think I posted a picture of the two of them in the exact same position side by side a couple of days. Plus they are as big as they are going to get, they will lose their fluff and become even more sleek. Plus, a lucky guess.

Here they all are right now.

How cute Terka.

Look at this, one looks much bigger. I wish they could weigh them too, but I guess repelling down that wall with scales would be asking too much.

"Let's get ready to rumble"

Reminds me of the start of a prize fight when the ref stands in between the fighters!

So darn cute!

Thanks for the great banding coverage, ljames & mwplay! Girls are actually supposed to be more of a handful than boys, but we'll see! :teehee:

Thank you so much for the video links mw! He rappels down the building..wow! As someone who is deathly afraid of heights - he has my utmost respect for that feat alone!

We have the same problem, Carly. Just looking at the cam view of Great Spirit Bluff makes me queasy! :girlyes:

Thanks for the banding links, mwplay. I'll check them out once I'm ready to settle in for the night.

Banding day photos:

Here are some links to banding day photos taken from Yahoo forum:

Photos from the ground taken by Eric:

Some really great close-up shots of Clara and Fernando taken from the roof of City Hall! From Nick Dunlop:

Besides the City Hall photos, Nick takes some beautiful raptor photos, and in "natural habitat" eyries (coastal cliffs).

Thanks for posting those links mwplay. Really nice pictures. The cam just doesn't really capture their beauty does it? I didn't get a chance to watch the little darlings today.

Semi Off-Topic news on Hiko (Clara & Jose's son from 2007):

This was posted on the SF PGE Yahoo group:

Fruitvale Bridge - Hiko and Tremaine

Hiko and his mate Tremaine have successfully hatched 4 eyasses this year. Shirley, a dedicated falcon watcher finally got a head count this morning. The position of the nest makes it difficult to see into the nest and requires the right combination of Tremaine standing off to the side while feeding, and the eyasses being strong enough to lift their heads high when being fed.

Hatching most likely started on Wednesday of last week, and the first feeding was on Thursday afternoon. Glenn Stewart will band the birds at a little over 3 weeks of age.

In the coming weeks as the eyasses venture out onto the ledge the best viewing spot will be in the Nob Hill shopping center, behind the pet food store.

Just watched chick slip and fall out of the nest.

Not sure if this one has been out before or not.

They look like chickens pecking around. This was after a small bird had been brought in and they devoured in a very short time. I assume they are searching for scraps.

Two out.

Cute little Red.
