Now Durand has to contend with the sun...which we know she does not like....poor dear...she's been lucky to have overcast skies the past few days...

Yes, she squirming around all over creation. Great shot of the food delivery. Need to take a look at the videos.

The way she's wiggling, I wonder if another egg is still viable and working on hatching?

Oh, that feeding was a major improvement over yesterday. She's getting the hang of it. I also wondered if another egg may be hatching after watching all her squirming around.

I put the headphones on to try and listen for a second voice. There's so much additional noise, I can't hear anything, but Durand is still wiggling around.

She's trying to keep little one shaded, but you can tell she just hates the full sun. She's panting and seems very restless/anxious to me.

She was alarm calling a few minutes ago, but quickly calmed down.

LOVED THE VIDEOS, THANKS MA! THAT FIRST ONE WAS SO FUNNY WHEN SHE WAS TRYING TO BE SO CAREFUL GETTING OFF THE CHICK, SHE ENDED UP ON HER OWN FOOT AND THEN COULDN'T MOVE, LOL! WONDER WHY SHE FLEW OFF WITH THE PREY FIRST? ALSO GOT TO SEE HOW BIG SHE IS NEXT TO SPARK! WOW! A HUGE GIRL :-)

MY GOSH, SHE'S GOING TO GIVE HERSELF A HEART ATTACK WITH ALL THAT MOVING AROUND IN THE HOT SUN! THE LITTLE ONE IS TRYING TO SHOW HER TO MOVE TO THE SHADE. IT WAS SWEET HOW SHE FOLLOWED IT TO KEEP IT COVERED :-)

Maybe they can add a little piece of wood to the front of the box to try and help shade it a bit...

YOU COULD BE RIGHT. NIECEY IN HARRISBURG WOULD ALARM CALL TO GET LIL DAD OFF THE EGGS SO SHE COULD GET BACK ON THEM, LOL!

Thank goodness the baby is in the shade...Now, Durand's gotta figure out how to get eggs and baby back together...

LOL...I think Durand needs to follow the baby..it is crawling further into the shade....too funny..

This baby reminds me of Orion last year - remember how independent he was! He ran to the shade too!

I sure do, carly...I also remember DC's feedings...LOL I just knew he had put Orion's eye out...but all was good.

this baby is feisty. Hope it stays that way!!!

Exactly Carly! It's like he did that from day 1! Remember how he would end up in the corner near Orville the rock?

I just hate seeing sun on the babies because I worry they will get sunburnt.

ITs gonna be interesting to see what sort of role Durand is going to allow Spark to play. With the exception of a few short periods, she's stuck very close. I hope she will ease up some and that Spark will get more comfortable with the baby. I think its important for a male to learn those skills too..

Watching her move around so much appearing anxious/restless is making me nervous!

She's got the gravel dug down so much, the little one was on plain wood there for a minute.. Thank goodness she pulled him back in. I was afraid he was going to fall out of the box.

ETA: I thought those eggs were going to roll out.

Um... I think I'm going to agree with Carly... They need to add more gravel next year, or build up a little lip..
