:flirty: Little Zeus is sitting earnestly on the eggs, hunkered down pretty tight, but holding his head up a bit so he can scan the sky for Guinevere's arrival.... He just got up, looked at the eggs, then scooched down while gathering the eggs with his wings, then finally settling in with them again. Then the cam went off....

Well, its Guinevere's turn to babysit the eggs this evening. Shes sitting on them very tight, and very still... Dozes off now and then, probably dreaming of the pitter patter of little falcon feet.... :egghatch:

.... and the swish of little falcon wings ......... I saw Zeus on the Tower last night, probably dreaming of the same thing. Cam report: Zeus was on the eggs for a while at 2:45, then the eggs were BP ( between parents) for just a couple of minutes, and now G is on them. The eggs look good, but they have definitely been moved around by the parents. It's easy to tell because these eggs are such different colors. :3eggs:
Hope the shells are sturdy enough to withstand the shovings of falcon parents.
Warning: humanization of falcons : I like how wistful Zeus seems when he sits on the eggs, sometimes he seems to be wondering, "is this all I have to do ?" Don't worry Zeus, you will be very busy soon enough.

Zeus was on the eggs when I first checked in. However maybe 2 minutes later his head started swiveling around back and forth back and forth. He jumped up, onto the ledge, out of the picture, and about a minute later Guinevere arrived, checked the eggs and settled down on them. But she is Very Alert - constantly looking for... ? I was wondering about the light colored egg - Is it OK? Do you expect it to be the first to hatch? Why is it so light?
PS The "unclose-able" box is back...
Hi SB watcher :hithere: I see you are on too!

Oh my! Now she(?) looks Very Intense!! She has been watching something for the last several minutes. Shes glaring up in the air, laying very flat on the eggs, as if wanting to protect them....

I agree. I just returned from a wedding in St. Louis [very nice] and it is good to see the wonderful reports from both Tsusan and sbwatcher. :thankyou

Hmm, she is very intent on something. I will be driving that way shortly and I'll let you know if I see anything. Tsusan, I'm not worried about the egg, it's got brown speckles on it and looked just that way when it was laid. The other three vary in color also. The light one was the last one to be laid. Maybe the mysterious white falcon of old legends is destined to hatch from this egg. :superstar:

G calmed down sometime between 3:41 and 3:48, so maybe the disturbance is gone. :calm

Addition to post, for anyone who might be :nailbite: : I drove downtown around 4:50 pm, and everything was quiet, no signs of anything. There may have been some kind of event earleir in the day. At 6:20, I drove back through and saw a falcon perched quite close to the nest box, I wasn't able to stay, but the bird looked :calm

5:34 Someone is sleeping quietly in the nestbox, head tucked under wing, but I can't tell who it is. Maybe Z is getting an overnight turn?

Yes, Zeus did get an overnight turn ! He was on cam at 6:30 am and the nest box looked beautiful bathed in a pink light. Does that mean that we will have girl falcon chicks? :bonnet:

He is on cam right now too, looking extra small but restful.

Ground report: Yesterday afternoon saw someone fly in to the nest box. Waited around, but no one flew out for several minutes.

Cam report today: G has been sitting quietly on eggs, then they traded off and Z flew in between 1:15 and 1:45 while I was watching the Canton nest. Guess I was not wide-eyed enough for SOuth Bend. Too distracted by those cute Canton eyasses !

Actually, I'm not sure that I have met any sane people on this board. :teehee:

10:43 pm a falcon of indeterminate size is sleeping on the eggs. I think it is G.

Great catches marineof2 !! :coolphoto: It's great to see some pics on the board ! This is the first time I've seen anyone eating, either in box or on the ledge.

Reports:
Yesterday's cam: in early afternoon G had the eggs in a perfect semi-circle as I tuned in, just like pre-school library story-time. She was looking at them, thinking falcon-knows-what, then she started scooping them, moving them around, and then sat on them, where she stayed for over an hour.

Yesterday's ground: around 6:30 pm, I was driving downtown, and could see from a few blocks away that a FALCON !! was up there, so naturally i just HAD to check this out. It was Zeus, sitting on the NE corner. (I think that he tends to sit a little bit back from the very front of the building, unlike G. ) At first he sat somewhat still, and then began to preen his body and move his tail feathers. I am guessing that preening is the falcon equivalent of Chill Time. He fluffed up his body and then unfluffed, just as I have seen Canton's Mystic do on cam. He did this a few times, seeming quite relaxed.

Today's cam report: 1:35 pm and the eggs have been moved AGAIN since marineof2's post. :suchdrama:
G is staring at them, then she moves them again a little bit, then sits down, leaving one brown egg uncovered. 1:50 now up and staring. 2:02 now sitting with all eggs covered (for those of you who might worry. ) 2:12 rocking from side to side on top of eggs.
