Here are a couple cute videos from today! I wish they had been closer in the first one with the food tug of war!

One of the kids steals the goldfinch from Red Girl and she has a hard time getting it back. LOL

Great videos, Kim. Feel sorry for the Goldfinch, though. One is at my thistle feeder right now. And Red Girl is feeding dinner at the moment. That one chick looks bigger than her!

Great video's Kim. They are really big now and moving around a lot. Nice to see them active. They are one week ahead of HBG. Any time mentioned on Banding?

I thought banding was going to be this week but I haven't heard from Craig so I'm not sure.

Thanks for the cute videos, Kim! I see the chick on the end in the tug-o-war video was the youngest. I remember a chick stealing the prey from Red Girl either last year or the year before, too! I think that chick was older than this one, though.

Oh that is so funny, Red Girl chasing that chick around to get the prey back. That chick is pretty fast.

A Goldfinch! Oh wow..that is funny to see that chick with it..Sorry for the finch, but it suprises me the adults bothered with something that small...But it is interesting to see the chick with it...They sure know how to clutch it and would have mantled if it had the feathers...
Cams...they are great!!

Those are great videos, Kim!!! Even though (I must admit) I really hate to know what kind of bird they are eating, the episode with the poor, unfortunate goldfinch was funny..(sorry, goldfinch..they are just so pretty..)

Agree! I loved both the videos, but especially the second one where the chick steals the goldfinch from RG and won't give it back. I just wish it weren't a goldfinch.

Over the past 10 years peregrines breeding at this Wilmington site have taken at least 73 different kinds of birds. Unfortunately, pigeons are only one of those, although they get hit harder than most.

It's an early dinner! The kids are so cute: If they don't get a bite from their parent, they'll steal a bite from the chick next to them. Plus I love how they tend to end up in a semi-circle when they're being fed.

P.S. Greg - Your number of 73 different kinds of birds taken by the Wilmington falcons is simply amazing!

I'm a new member here. Aloha everyone!!

A friend of mine told me to join this site...for we're always chatting about these awesome birds...as well as watching the webcams...both Wilmington and Harrisburg.

May I say.....the photos are amazing!! ^_^ I've viewed them through the Wilmington Peregrine Falcon Webcam Project Site and through Wilmington Falcons page on Facebook.

I watched a video last night. Dinner arrived as a goldfinch and one of the babies snatched it and kept running with it. Finally the mother got a hold of it and the feeding commenced.

That's when I stopped watching the video ~ Bittersweet but ...that's nature for ya! >_*

74. Their first whip-poor-will this morning on the sidewalk, next to a fresh yellow-billed cuckoo head. Fresh feathers from pigeon, red-bellied woodpecker and some small songbird on parking garage roof across the street from the nest box. The kids won't starve today, even without the whip-poor-will.

The whip-poor-will was basically intact (feathers on the neck a little out of order) so I took it to the Delaware Museum of Natural History. Not the first contribution that these falcons have made to the collections there.

I have to say that I enjoy your posts, too, Greg! Very informative & often funny! Unfortunate about the whip-poor-will. :girlsad3: I hate to see "our" falcons get cardinals, gold finches, & catbirds, but between this nest & Harrisburg, they have gotten all of those in the past few days.

Holy Toledo! A Whip! That blows me away. I can imagine a Nighthawk. A stashed item in Harrisburg today was a Woodcock on one of the window ledges.
