Craig said banding is supposed to happen sometime this week.

That's great news! And it was great watching your video of the chick jumping back into the box.

I must admit that I got distracted after watching your video. When it ended, some links to other videos appeared, and I just had to watch Maru (one of my favorite kitties) playing as well as the big cats playing with boxes. Too cute!

Oh, dear. I saw one kind of trying to look out at the world the other day, but it didn't try to jump up on the ledge. It could probably see Kim's building though. :-) Not sure about Greg's, as it's not as tall. Hope Craig is doing the banding SOON. If I remember correctly, he ended up doing it after dark last year. Maybe somebody can refresh my memory about that.

2011 was after dark but last year was during the day and probably when they were a little younger than they are now. I trust that Craig knows what he's doing though.

Thanks, Kim. That's what we're hoping in Harrisburg this year. Our banding is May 21. All chicks have been out of the scrape more than once, but not venturing too far from it.

OH Gosh!! I can't believe they are jumping out all ready! It seems earlier than previous years. Is that right? Is the little one there? This is disturbing. I hope they get banded soon!

I just went back and looked at the pictures on this page again, and it does look like the little one is there. I would like to see four.

Faith - I saw all four chicks together in the nest box as it was getting dark. So I'm sure they're keeping each other company tonight.

Thanks Ethel! I guess I worry to much, but now I will sleep better. Tomorrow is another day of adventures.

JUST GETTING CAUGHT UP HERE. MY HOPE THAT BANDING IS VERY SOON! LOVED THE VIDEOS OF THE JUMPING UP ON THE LEDGE, BUT DON'T LIKE SEEING THAT UNTIL AFTER THEY ARE BANDED! RG AND CJ SURE WILL HAVE THEIR TALONS FULL!

AS FAR AS BOTHERING WITH LITTLE PREY, I NOTICED LIL DAD HAD BEEN BRINGING IN SMALL PREY AND HE WOULD DANGLE IT IN FRONT OF THE CHICK LIKE HE WAS GIVING IT TO THEM. IF THEY DIDN'T SNATCH IT, THEN HE WOULD FEED THEM, BUT YESTERDAY, ONE DID SNATCH IT AND SAT THERE EATING ALL BY ITSELF AND THEN ANOTHER CAME TO HELP, A LITTLE TUG OF WAR, BUT THEY WERE BOTH EATING ALL ALONE, NOT HAVING TO BE FED :-)

So far this morning, everyone's at home and accounted for. Their feathers are coming in so quickly, that the chicks look very different from day to day!

Three of the chicks had hopped up to the ledge earlier, but there's nothing like breakfast to get all the ledge-hoppers back into the next box.

Thanks Ethel for the pictures and your posting today. I would love to see them on the edge, but my luck they wouldn't be there when I was. Hey! I have to look closer when riding by! !!!!! LOL! I'm really "bad" with that. I look every chance I get going down the highway.

Took at look at the cam about five minutes ago. All four were sacked out up against the back of the box. Sleeping off their breakfast, I guess.

Phooey. I wasn't watching then. Will be interested in learning the genders and all specifics. Nice shot of Craig's back, Ethel! Can see one chick in the box that is looking totally spellbound.

Have been trying to see bands, but can't tell. Have been trying to leave for groceries for over an hour now!
