Semi laying back down. Back feathers fluffed up.

So, I think she is more covering than incubating, in case she needs to get up quickly, so as not to harm eggs.

Carly - you can see stills...right? I'm not posting pics because I was recording his visit on deck and didn't want to ruin recording.

11:55am - he must be flying around front of TSB because her head/eyes are following.

Again, my gut tells me this is not UT. I think if it was UT, she would have chupped or something. This was a get away from me look she was giving.

Birdgirl could not see bands... back was to her.

Oh no, is something wrong with DC? Was that another falcon up on the ledge a couple of minutes ago while Beauty was in the nest box?

I sure hope all will soon be OK here!

I'm trying to find the comparison pics I did of UT & DC a while back. I want to compare this new bird with the UT pics....

12:10pm - She's fluffed up again...

He's on cam 2 now

Other side of main cam... quiet. gone now...

JOYCE: Based on the locations of 2nd DT falcon, it sounds like UT's spots. DC quiet at BS. No P.

UT markings...dark cap, wider mustache, and small white vertical auricular patch behind mustache.

12:12 - She's standing again. semi laying. Fluffed back. Looks like she's ready to launch if need be. Again, I don't think she's tucking the eggs in right now.

Found comparison pics:

This bird was bigger than UT in my opinion.

Here was UT closer than other bird... Size on bird today looks more like DC's size:

I'm so sorry to hear that DC didn't arrive as usual to the nest box this morning and that he's been sleeping at BS but not eating. I hope it's just an upset tummy that's bothering him.

But if something more severe is bothering DC, then it's good to know that the new tiercel might be UT. I was quite fond of him before DC arrived on the scene. Either way, I do believe that Beauty and the chicks to come will be well taken care of . . . whether it's DC or UT or another male. Beauty is one smart female, and she'll do everything she can to protect her turf, eggs, and future chicks.

I am just so sorry that this is happening and do hope this is gonna turn itself around and get back on track. The fact that DC has broken his pattern is the most concerning for me. I do hope whatever is going on with him, that it is not serious. We really don't know, for fact, that he has not eaten today other than appearing to have an empty crop. Crops aren't always obvious unless its been a huge feed

I'm trying to take my cues from Beauty...right now, she appears unconcerned and relaxed. I can see that she is tracking at times, but the fact that she is not kakking or racing out of the box to drive off the tiercel holds some sort of meaning that we don't know. That part is very curious to me.

I know at some point she is gonna have to leave, then it will be nail biting time...

I know I'm anxious over this. Worried about DC...really worried about him.

Don't like that a new bird is here...

Anyway, when I look at the pics of this new bird today, he looks different to my eye. UT looked a lot like DC and it was hard to distinguish between the two. This bird just looks different. So I guess we will have to wait and see when he comes back... because at this point, I'm sure he's going to.

All reports indicate DC is still at BS and this guy is hunting. Again, I don't think it's a female.. really think it is a male.
